Bye Frypan." I said and started walking while looking down as I put the sandwich in my bag.

"Keep safe, Allie." He called.

I was about to thank him but I bumped into someone.

I looked up at the person and a smile immediately crept it's way to my lip.

"Tommy." I smiled at him.

"hey." he greeted. "Are you ready?" He put his hands on his hips and slightly cocked his head to the side while smiling at me.

I exhaled. "I think." I said, but it sounded more like a question.

"you don't have to be scared." He reassured.

I just stared at him with a smile.

"Okay?" He said, bringing me back to reality.

"Yeah." I slightly shook my head "Of course."

"Good." He shuffled my hair and placed his hand on my back while smiling down at me. "Let's go then." He scanned me for a minute and we started jogging towards the doors.

Today, me and Thomas were going into the Maze.

I have been in the Glade for four months but I had just been assigned to be a runner two days ago, so being scared is an understatement.

But although I'm scared, I still didn't want to look weak.

I wanted to be a runner, and I am now.

So even if they see me as a sweet, loving girl, I also wanted them to know that I can do what the boys can and that I'm not just a plain girl.

We were now standing in front of the huge walls and Thomas and I were readying ourselves for the run.

"Remember," Thomas turned to me.

"Becareful, Don't stop running." We both said in usinon.

We gave each other a small nod and jogged into the maze.

But before we went to our separate ways, Thomas called, "Allie!"

I turned to him and gave him a questioning look.

"Becareful" he smiled.

"I will." I returned a smile and waved at him.

************

It was starting to get dark, and I was returning to the path I came from.

Today wasn't such a bad day. I just did the same things that I normally did from the past two days in the run.

Even though nothing extreme really happen to today, I'm still happy that I get to spend the time with my boyfriend.

Suddenly, I heard clanking sounds of metal. It didn't sound like the doors and the doors weren't supposed to be closing yet.

I just ignored it at first, but then the clanking got louder and closer.

So I let out a shaky breath and hasten my running.

After minutes of running, the sounds stopped so I slowed my pace to take a short rest.

I slightly bent my knees and placed my hands on it.

"What the?" I mumbled, looking at the sticky thing that I seemed to step on.

A click of something metal came from above and I lifted my head up slowly only to see the thing that I really hated in the maze. A Griever.
