Shock Troopers

Chapter 3

(Zeta PoV)

It had been a month since we had the Newbie move in. he's calmed down and we are slowly warming up to him. But I am still quite cautious about him.

"So, what's the objective here?" He asked, "[Captain, what are we actually doing here? We were dropped in and no-one explained to us.]" I asked, "[Fucking idiots, I asked them to tell you. The banished have been found around here however we have no clue what they are doing. So basically you're on a scouting mission. Try not to engage.]" He explained.

"[Ok Captain.]" I said, "You all hear him?" I asked, they shook their heads, "We are scouting. With a 'Try not to engage'." I explained. "Seems easy enough." Newbie said when he was got in the chest by a needler. We turned and opened fire when I saw two wraiths come over the top, then 3 locus. "Team fall back." I said, I grabbed Newbie and started dragging him back when I noticed a Cave. "[Retreat, don't wait for us. If we aren't with you in an hour expect the worse and get back to the Spirit.]" I ordered, "[We are not leaving you Y/n.]" Omega said, "[It was an order Alice, get out of here.]" I ordered again. I dragged Newbie to safety then threw two grenades at the Forces coming up. it killed the foot soldiers but barely scratched the locus and wraith.

I dragged Newbie into the cave and the Wraiths and Locus went past. We had lost them. I pulled the needle out of Newbie and started preforming my first aid training. I got him pretty much healed, he was lucky the Needle missed his vitals and didn't explode. However we were knee-deep in Banished territory with no safe way out.

"What do we do Boss?" he asked, "It's Zeta, and right now rest. We can't leave due to the banished being on high alert looking for us." I explained, he nodded and placed his stuff down. we moved further down the Cave where I activated my Night Vision. "How can you see down here?" he asked, "Night Vision, it's built into the ODST helmets. Activate it by simply tapping twice on the side of the visor." I explained, he did what I said and he could clearly see.

"Jesus what do they train you too do in ODST training?" I asked, "When I had to take it we were pretty much hand fed to the Covenant till we got taken to a separate training facility." I explained. He shuddered, "Yeah we only have the training facility now." He finished before we saw some light on the other side, he didn't see the shimmer though. I did. I immediately pushed him out of the way and dodged the Energy sword striking down towards me. I managed to stop the Elites second swing by grabbing the hilt. I kicked the elite in the stomach and he stumbled backwards a bit letting the sword fall. I picked it up and quickly finished him off. That's when I saw two more shimmers. And I'm guessing Newbie saw them as I heard some suppressed shots firing and bullets whip past my head. Seeing him take down an elite there. So I focused on the last one. I saw him swing and I pulled the sword up in a defensive manor to protect myself. I heard the clash so I quickly pulled out my magnum and shot him three times near the head, depleting his shields. He quickly stumbled back but I followed through with my attack and swung the energy sword down, slicing through the Elite. Killing him.

"We can't stay here Newbie." I said, "I agree, we need to start moving or we will be stuck here." He informed. We moved closer towards the exit and turned our Night Vision off. We then saw a mass of Banished, it was a staging ground. No-wonder we were easily found, this is where their main force is kept.

"Jesus Christ, we found their main fucking HQ. Look at them." I said in a mix of awe and horror. "There's at least 100 scarabs here, never mind that there's like 2 million ground units. Where the fuck did he find all of that covenant tech." Newbie said, I started recording on my helmet. "Newbie, start recording." I said, "We need two recording of this." He nodded and started recording.

"I count 124 Scarabs. And there are way too many of the others to count without being here for 3 years." I said, "I only count 30 Banshees, are the others out on patrol or are they low?" he asked, "We have been seeing a limited number of banshees on the field. Maybe they are low." I said. "We have to get back to the rest of the squad. Let's head back towards the main base." I said, stopping my recording. We turned and started walking back. that's when we noticed a small attack force of UNSC walking directly to the Staging ground. I jumped in front of the Scorpion to stop them in their Tracks. "Turn around, it's a staging ground. You will not live." I shouted.
