"I really need to stop daydreaming during important times."
Mercury
The other guest that just so happened to be with Fury was Thor. Hence the crack of lighting just before the knock. I try not to let his presence startle me but the fact that he was here and not across the world swimming in some mystical pond unsettled me to a great deal. The fact I couldn't tell anyone unsettled me EVEN MORE.
Laura kindly offered Fury and Thor a plate of food to which they gladly accepted, bringing us to now where we all stood or sat around the dining table.
"Agent Hill sent out a distress call a couple days ago, something about getting a big boat," Fury spoke as he stabbed his fork through a piece of lasagna. "I've got agency across the world calling in, saying something or someone has erased digital files, stolen money from their accounts, hacking into pentagon databases, getting highly classified information i don't even have clearance for, I even have the president calling me asking if whatever the hell is out their wants nuclear codes."
Fury wiped his mouth as he ate his last piece, placing the napkin atop the plate.
"So I'm only going to ask this once," he paused. Taking in all the faces of the room. "What in the hell are we dealing with?"
There was a few collective sighs before Tony, Bruce, Myself and Thor decided to speak. Catching each other of guard we all paused before we could even get a word out.
"So we avoid a cluster fuck of facts, let's start with the two witless wonders over here and explain to me why SHIELD was getting high gamma readings from Stark Tower a couple a days before this whole fiasco happened." He exclaimed while looking at Thor and Bruce.
Bruce was quick to step in, "Tony and I," he gestured to the billionaire. "We're working on," he paused taking a breath. "Artificial Intelligence."
Fury furrowed his brows and tilted his head, "and how'd that work out for you?" He asked condescendingly.
"Pretty well if I say so myself." Tony uttered followed my a slap on either arm from Clint and Bruce.
"It wasn't mean to be what it came out to be," Bruce strained. "We weren't looking to create a mass murdering robot or-or a crazy artificial intelligence. It was supposed to be an armor, a way for the avengers to live a normal life."
"You're The Avengers, you don't HAVE normal lives. " Fury argued. "You have a responsibility to this world, to this universe to protect it. It's why I created this groups in the first place, to fight the battles we humans can't."
