17. Motivation

Some stories become shallow because they lack this concept. So, what is MOTIVATION? Motivation is the reason of the character's action. Simply put, the character committed suicide because she was bullied and called shit names in school, her family considers her as a useless piece of shit, and her best friend is a bullshit crap who talks shit about her behind her back. There are stories in wattpad that really confuses me, LIKE A LOT. Why would she do that? Why would she eat human flesh? Why would she kill her ex and his lover, and her best friend? Is there a reason behind it? That is what I am looking in every books I've read. I am disappointed because I only see few stories that has a strong motivation. Some of them, the characters' actions are just DEUS EX MACHINA (I want you to research about it. I'm not spoon feeding you. I am a tight lipped narrator. No pun intended.) To create a motivation, you can answer this question as a writer: WHAT WILL MAKE YOU DO THE DIFFICULT THING?
