[20] A little less alone

I dragged my tired but to school and managed to avoid Zach for the whole day. Well, I suppose it was made easier by the fact that he seemed to be avoiding me too. Trin seemed to notice the tension, but she didn't ask any questions.

When the clock neared 4 pm it became increasingly hard for me to avoid Zach. Why? Because that was when we boarded the bus that would take us to the camping site. We were four girls, I, Hanna and two I'd never talked to. Apparently it had only been Rider that had forced his girlfriend to join him.

I found an empty seat in the front of the bus and hoped no one decided to sit next to me. It was a big bus, but there were a lot of football players that had to fit.

I ended up not getting to sit alone, but at least Zach didn't come to sit next to me. Hanna was sitting with Rider and Sam was of course not going to sit next to his big sister. A boy called Troy ended up sitting next to me, mostly because he came in late and there weren't any other empty seats. He was perfect because even if he played the cool kid in school he seemed awfully incompetent with women. He didn't make the first move and he didn't much talk to them, which hopefully meant he would let me sleep in peace.

Wrong.

Well, he didn't talk to me, but he always had to have something to say to the people sitting at the back of the bus, meaning he was constantly shouting.

The bus ride took around 4 hours and thanks to Troy I did not enjoy one second of it. I had almost managed to fall asleep at one point, but that's when Troy decided he wanted to ask me if I knew how long it would take before we reached the final destination.

Let's just keep this short and say I wasn't in the best mood when we arrived. We four girls got a pretty big tent to share, while the boys had to set up two for all of them. The bad thing with our tent was that it didn't have any warming.

"I mean it looks nice," Hanna said when we were finished. "But we're going to freeze to death."

"Don't you dare ask Rider to come over and warm you up," I warned.

Before she could say something back to me the coach shouted to get our attention. We walked over with Hanna to the group of football players.

"There is something we've not told you yet about this trip, or rather why most of you are here," coatch said. "The reason is mainly what happened after the game a few months ago against west-side. I talked to their coatch and we both agreed that something had to be done about this hostility that exists between our schools." Coatch took a deep breath. "So this weekend you're going to spend with them. They're bus arrives in thirty minutes."

Complains erupted quickly but coatch was having none of it.

"Stop whining! You only have yourselves to blaim for this and there is nothing that is going to change the fact that you're going to spend this weekend here with them. We'll set up team-building excerises so that you get to know both them and each other better."

I was only staring at coach disbelievingly. My two worlds were about to crash into each other. And Zach still didn't know the full extent of what had happened between me and and Lucas. Or rather he didn't know that we even knew each other.

Fuck my life.

I looked at Hanna.

"Why are you looking so sour?" She asked before she seemed to realize my problem. "Oh.. You've told Zach right?" I shook my head slightly. "Oh... oh shit."

"Oh shit indeed," I muttered. This was going to be an interesting weekend.
