[Hunter x Hunter] Kite x Reader

Your POV

The sun begins to set as I wander in a dense wilderness with Kite whom I was accompanying in a zoological research for the government of Kakin. It has been a few weeks ever since the day he personally consulted Chairman Netero to let me take part and the research is almost at a close.

Although, I did found the invitation questioningly before. I do not have any experience in the type of field due to being a Botanical Hunter, having only great knowledge about plants, searching, and collecting them.

Being tangled with the Contract Hunter is kinda conflicting in my opinion but I was able to adapt because of Kite whom was patient with me, also---

I watch the back of the male in front of me, curious. Kite is a professional Hunter with our status approximately comparable, also he has 6 teammates with him. Why would he need me who is unexperienced to be a part of this?

Without realizing I keep on staring at his back, not noticing him slightly glancing back at me. Hearing him sigh snap me out of my daze, he stops walking that I did the same. "Kite?"

"(First Name), you have been staring for quite a while now." He began and face me with an indifferent look, "Is there something you want from me?"

I ponder for a bit and think carefully of what I want to say before speaking. "An explaination is what I want." I approach him that caught him off guard. "Kite, tell me. Why did you ask Chairman Netero to let me take part in the research."

"Knowing I have no experience in zoology but only vast knowledge about plants--- yet you insisted, saying it's no big deal." I said as I stare into his black irises. "I also questioned Chairman Netero to why I was chosen to accompany you."

And it was from there Kite stiffens.

"But he did not give me an answer." Then let out a relieved breath and smile that make my eyes widen.

"I have my own reasons to why you are here with me." Kite utters and place his hand on top of my head, "After the research is done, I'll tell you why, but for now---"

My eyes widen yet again and mouth agape. I can also hear my heart beating rapidly inside my chest and was ready to escape. I couldn't believe Kite's actions, thinking it's just a dream, but it wasn't. Kite let his lips linger on to my forehead before retracting from me, eyeing my surprised visage before speaking.

"This will have to do."
