The jet bounced and shook as they made a shaky descent to land about half a mile away from the ships that housed Klaue. For the rest of the flight, they had spent their time discussing how to proceed when they landed.
They had decided that the four Enhanced (along with a few robots for protection) would head to the Churchill, the ship that Klaue was on, and try and persuade him into doing business. If he became aggravated or refused a deal, Ultron would make his 'dramatic entrance', as he called it.
So the four Enhanced trekked across the barren salvage yard towards the ships that rested at its end. Sickly gray clouds stretched across the sky, shielding them from the sun. The murky gray water lay at low-tide, leaving the freight ships sunken in sand on the shore.
As they reached the massive ships, they stayed in the shadows cast by the great beasts, flitting across from ship to ship until they made their way to Klaue's. A few stray workers were outside, but they were easily avoided. They soon reached Klaue's ship. The Churchill, it read in white letters on the side of the ship.
Low-tide provided an entrance to the ship; an open cargo hold door that would've been submerged underwater. They slid through it, sticking to the walls of the ship and staying in the dark.
A set of stairs led up from the cargo hold to the belly of the ship above. They moved carefully, and waited for the signal one of the robots would give. The belly of the ship was lit with floodlights that cast dim yellow-hued light over the ship. The walls were made of thick metal, with crates lining up alongside them. Other boxes carried large pieces of metal and weapons. Catwalks stretches across the ships, and workers rushed to and fro, carrying armloads of missiles, parts, and machinery.
From her spot crouched by the stairs, Ira could see a glass box situated on the wall across from them. Klaue's office. She could see him pacing around on the phone, completely oblivious to their presence. A staircase led up to it, and she nudged the others, pointing this out. They sat in silence, waiting for the signal. And finally, it came.
The lights were cut out suddenly, plunging the ship into darkness. Chaos ensued as workers yelled and fumbled around. Some pulled out flashlights, and the Enhanced were careful to avoid the bright beams as they made their way to the staircase on the other side of the ship.
They crept up slowly, not making a sound. They stopped at the top of the steps, and Ira saw Klaue grab a gun through the glass windows that made up the walls. Pietro saw it too, and rushed into the office. Before Klaue or anyone could say or do anything, Pietro had swiftly taken the gun and line the bullets up in a neat little row on Klaue's desk.
The three girls took this as an opportunity to make themselves known, stepping out of the shadows to stand beside Pietro. "Yeah, the Enhanced. Strucker's prize pupils," Klaue chuckled, realization crossing his features. He had a sort of wild look to him, with unkempt hair and a crazed look in his eye. "Want a candy?" He asked, picking a dish off of his desk and offering it to them while he sat down.
"We don't want your candy," Emilia spat, and Klaue furrowed his eyebrows.
"Such a temper," he said, and Emilia's eyes narrowed.
"I was sorry to hear about Strucker," he continued. "But then, he knew what kind of world he was helping to create. Human life. Not a growth market." Confusion flashed across Ira's face, and she glanced at the others, seeing they, too, didn't know what he was talking about.
"You... You didn't know?" Klaue asked, seeing their confused expressions. "Is this your first time intimidating someone?" He asked patronizingly. "I'm afraid that I'm not that afraid."
