VI. The Moment We Went Swimming In The DarkWell it's been a rough almost three weeks for me since Bex was on lockdown at home during her time of being grounded. She was suppose to be grounded for a month but Mike eased up on her and cut her sentencing almost in half when she kissed up to him to get back on his good side. I figured he wouldn't stay upset with her for long and I'm pretty sure she's learned her lesson.
There were a few times I nearly snuck over to be able to see her but I didn't want to get busted, putting her in even more trouble. Plus, I didn't want to come off too clingy—it's not like we're dating. But fuck did I miss being able to see her whenever I wanted to.
Not to mention Heather was going absolutely bat shit crazy in the house not being able to see nor talk to her BFF which meant she was up mine and Ford's ass more than she usually is.
Now I'm thinking of that blue eyed beauty next door as I toss my football up in the air, hanging my head off the foot of my bed and my legs bent as I stair up at the ceiling fan spinning in slow motion.
If that doesn't symbolize how time has been for me since I've last laid eyes on her, even got to hear her voice—I don't know what does.
I should probably go see her since she's finally back home from the store—which I only know about since Heather ran in here twenty minutes ago to inform me. She had ran into Bex at the store along with Bex's grandma Elena where she got the most important detail—that she was no longer grounded.
Heather was so ecstatic about the news that she wouldn't stop bouncing around while screaming at the top of her lungs. Pretty sure I still can't hear out of my right ear thanks to her.
I throw up the football in a perfect spiral one last time before I lay it down on my bed next to me. My cell phone starts ringing and I pull it out of my front pocket to check who it is. When I see Chevy's Better Than A Ford I grin to myself and answer.
"Yes?" I sing out and I can hear loud music in the background—making me cringe away from my phone momentarily before placing it back against my ear.
"Hey where are you fucker? I'm on my way to the lake right now, there's going to be a little get together there. Probably do some swimming tonight and might even get to skinny dip with some hotties if you know what I mean," Ford chuckles and I roll my eyes at his maturity or lack of.
"Oh is that so?" I answer bored and sit up before placing my feet on the hardwood floors beneath me.
"Yeah, so let's go man. You want me to swing by and pick you up? Ask Heather if she wants to come too since Bex is grounded," he offers.
"Actually Bex isn't grounded anymore," I chew at my thumb nail and that's when the light bulb decides to go off over my head. As if the asshole is telepathic and can read my thoughts, he lets out a loud victory scream.
"Fuck yeah—even better. Go get your girl and I'll stop by your house to wait for you. Oh and please tell your sister to not take for fucking ever—we are going swimming at the lake, she doesn't need ten pounds of make-up on that's just going to wash away as soon as she gets dunked under water by yours truly," he chuckles proudly, making me smirk.
"Sure, I'll tell her you said she looks like Bozo The Clown," I tease him and I can already imagine the terrified look on his face.
"Don't fucking tell her that, I'm still waiting for her to get me back for spitting Coca Cola in her face. She'll really have my ass if you tell her that," he whines as I walk towards Heather's room down the hall.
