XVII.The Moment Everything And I Mean Everything Changed"This is not what I intended, I always swore to you I'd never fall apart
You always thought that I was stronger
I may have failed, but I have loved you from the start
Oh, but hold your breath
Because tonight will be the night that I fall for you over again
Don't make me change my mind
Or I won't live to see another day, I swear it's true
Because a girl like you is impossible to find
It's Impossible"Fall For You by Secondhand Serenade plays quietly through the stereo system of my truck as I drive away from the school grounds. I glance over to the passenger seat and have another look at the girl I love. She's dressed in a navy blue dress that shows off the wonders of her curvaceous body. God, I could look at her all day and never tire of the sight.
Tonight, I finally graduated high school. I'm done, finished, finito, complete, etc, etc.
Tonight, I'm also going to tell Bex the truth.
I'm going to tell her everything I've been holding in since last June. I'm finally going to grow a damn pair and cross my fingers that it turns out the way I hope.
When I glance at Bex again for the hundredth time tonight, I catch her already looking at me with a curious look in her eyes.
God, I hope she doesn't think I'm some freak because I keep staring at her.
I clear my throat and continue driving towards her house to drop her off at home. I told her and everyone that I was going to Jimmy's graduation party but in all honesty, I want to spend the night with Bex, depending of course how she takes the news.
Fuck, maybe she'll kick me out and tell me never to speak to her again.
I gulp and fidget with my fingers as I drive down our street and pull into her driveway. As soon as I stop the truck, Bex jumps out of the cab before I can say anything to her.
She leans over the windowsill and looks down at her feet with a sigh. Her hair falls into her face and good God does she look stunning. Bex finally looks up at me and I smile nervously as I think about what I'm going to say to her. She returns the smile and tucks her hair behind her ear.
"Thanks for the ride Nate and have fun at the party," she sighs once again as she looks at me with wonder.
"Anytime Bex and I'll try," I laugh nervously as I run my fingers through my hair.
Why the hell did I say that? I have no intention of going to that damn party. Way to go Nathan. Real fucking smooth.
I catch her staring at me and she smiles shyly as she backs away from my truck.
"Goodnight Nate."
"Goodnight Bex," I smile back and open my mouth to tell her to wait so I can finally tell her but once I have my chance, nothing comes out. I open and close my mouth like a fish out of water, trying to figure out the right words to say but nothing comes to mind.
Fuck, fuck, fuck. I'm totally going to blow this.
Before I can even collect my thoughts properly, I look up to notice Bex giving me a small wave before walking into her house, closing the door behind her.
