The Dead Fall

Chapter 7

"So Kane where is Chase hole up at?" Jake asked
"I can't tell you they'll kill me if they find out!" Kane said
Jake punched him in the face.
"If you don't tell me I'll kill you." Jake said
Kane spit blood out onto the ground.
"He has my brother and if I do anything against his order he'll kill him." Kane said
Jake punched him in the face again. The doctor walked in to check on Kane and saw what was happening.
"Jake what are you doing? He's just a kid." Doctor Brooks said
"Listen doc, this has nothing to do with you. You need to go." Jake said
"Just leave him alone you've done enough." Brooks said
"Fine, but next time I come in here he better be ready to talk." Jake said
Jake walked out and Kane started crying. Brooks walked over to him and helped him wipe the blood off his mouth.
"I'm sorry." Brooks said
"It's my fault. I shouldn't have gotten caught, Chase isn't gonna be happy." Kane said
"You won't have to worry about him for very long. I promise you that." Brooks said as he walked out of the cell and locked it.

Chase walked around looking at the bodies of his men.
"Damn. This has got to be those fuckers at the Daniel safe zone." Chase said
"Honestly it could be any of the communities." One of his guys said.
"You do have a point Weston. How long has it been since we checked up on Hopeville and Dawnbury?" Chase asked
"It's been a while. We've been busy with the new guys putting up a fight." Weston said
"Wait a second, didn't we send Kane out with this group?" Chase asked
"Yeah, he may have already roamed away boss." Weston said looking down
"No, look they made sure to head shot everyone. He's still out there somewhere, or worse he's been captured. Which means he'll talk, it's a shame I was just starting to warm up to his brother." Chase said
Chase and Weston got back in their truck and drove back to Chase's compound. Chase walked into the door and everyone turned and looked at him.
"One of our own has been captured and Sadly it's someone who I know can't keep his mouth shut. I made this person a promise and I intend to keep it. Ollie come here a minute." Chase said
Kane's twin brother Ollie came out of the crowd and stood in front of Chase.
"What happened?" Ollie asked
"Turn around and kneel." Chase said
Ollie did as he was told and Chase pulled out his 44. And put it to Ollies head.
"If anyone looks away.... well you know what's gonna happen." Chase said
Chase pulled the trigger and Ollies brain splattered on the floor and he fell to the ground with a thud.
"Nothing like a good ole fashion execution to get your blood pumping!" Chase said
Chase put his gun in his holster and walked back outside.
"Someone clean this mess up." Weston said
Weston caught up to Chase who was walking to the truck.
"Let's go see how Dawnbury is doing on this fine morning." Chase said

Colby, Felix, Frank, and Noah led the herd away from the safe zones. They all went back to Hopeville to celebrate their successful mission and so Noah could wait until the next morning to head back to his home. They all sat around a fire and drank some whiskey.
"Don't drink to much there cowboy. You have a long trip ahead of you tomorrow." Scott said
"Cowboy huh? I'm about to call it a night anyway." Noah said
"Thanks for helping us out." Scott said
"It's the least I could do. You guys saved my life and I will owe you forever for that." Noah said
"We'll go get some shut-eye. We'll have a truck loaded up with supplies tomorrow." Scott said
Noah woke up the next morning and walked outside to the truck and got in. Scott walked over to the window.
"Good luck. I hope to see you soon." Scott said
"You will. Soon." Noah said
They opened the gates and Noah drove out toward home.

Chase got to the gates of Dawnsbury and they opened up for him. Him and Weston drove in and they walked up to the guy standing in the middle. He is a stronger man dressed in camo cargo pants and a grey shirt with dog tags hanging around his neck.
"Lucas, I hope you have a good load of guns for me this time." Chase said
"Oh you know it sir. Whatever it takes." Lucas said
"See it's not a that hard to comply. If you stay in line no one else has to die." Chase said
Lucas looked over to their graveyard with five fresh graves
"Yes sir." Lucas said
"You know Lucas, I killed one of my own today because his brother has been captured. Do you know anything about that?" Chase asked
"No sir." Lucas said
Chase looked into Lucas eyes
"Are you sure?" Chase asked
"Yes sir." Lucas said a bit more sternly
"Ok." Chase said
Chase walked around Dawnsbury and grabbed all of the guns he could find. Weston loaded them all in the truck and they got in and left.
"Dammit I cant keep fucking doing this!" Lucas yelled throwing his hat on the ground.
Chase and Weston drove back to the compound and Chase walked into the cells in the back. He walked to the last cell and saw Eva in the corner crying.
"Hey darling." Chase said
"Jake is gonna come after me and he's gonna kill you." Eva said
Chase looked at Eva angrily
"No... he won't. I promise." Chase said
