[WP] You have a wearable item that turns you invisible when you put it on. One day you're wearing the item and a blind woman stops to ask you for the time.

I have a ring that allows me to go invisible.

A family heirloom, it's the most precious thing I own so naturally I carry it in my pocket wherever I go. I just love the feeling of my right thumb caressing the buttery smooth gold of the shank and my fingers as they kiss the deep blue sapphire carefully fixed to the head. There are times when I wear it of course but when the time comes I do it without second thought as it's mostly to take care of important business that needs a bit of 'privacy'.

It was one of those times that I slipped on the ring and walked out my front door, careful not to disturb the leaves sleeping on the ground. I stopped at the empty crosswalk out of habit even though there were no cars the irrational fear of the law still stuck in my head.

A small, blind old lady with frizzy white hair and a walking stick stopped by my side but I paid her no heed as the ring completely masked my presence, including any sound I made.

"Say, young man would you happen to know the time? I'm a bit blind you see" The old lady asked in her frail little voice, giggling the whole while at her little joke. My heart softened at her voice and her old age 'jokes'.

"It's 3 am Ma'am" I said courteously, lifting the sleeve of the shirt on my left hand to check if I was right with my guess

3:06 am, close enough

The light turned green and I walked ahead.

Wait a fucking minute

I turned back and she was gone.
