Give Him a Chance

Fortune nervously walked up to Michael's door. He stood there for two minutes just staring at the door bell.

"Fortune?" Ariana called out behind him with a boy.

He turned around startled, "Ariana! Hi, I just...I..is your dad home?" He forced a smile.

"Well that's his car, so I'd say yes. Did you knock on the door?" She asked as she pointed to her fathers car.

"Nope,"Fortune quickly replied.

Ariana giggled, "okay, well come in."

She walked by him with the boy and he followed. "I'll get daddy. I'll meet you outback Connor."

Ariana ran upstairs to get her father as Connor walked outback. Fortune's nerves sunk back in when he saw Michael following Ariana down the stairs. She ran outside after Connor.

"Fortune?"

"Michael. Can we talk? About Mika?"

Michael sighed, "sure," as he gestured towards the living room. They both took a seat and then sat in silence.

"He broke up with Andy," Fortune stated breaking the silence.

"Good for him."

"Yea, ummm you know he likes you, right?"

Michael got distracted by his youngest girls running down stairs and outback, "walk!" He yelled, but they had already gone out of sight.

"Please give him a chance Michael. I know my brothers made mistakes and he can be selfish at times, very, but he has the biggest heart and he wants to give it to you. Please. Give him a chance. And if he fucks up I'll break it off for you! Please?!" He begged.

Michael sighed once more, "okay."

Fortunes face lit up. "Have him meet me at my cafe at noon tomorrow."

"You have a cafe?"

"Yes," Michael laughed. "It's called 'Emmett's.' And yes, I named it after my son!" They both laughed. "He's only got one shot Fortune. I'm at that point in my life where I can't waste my time on relationships that will end up no where. I don't just have my heart to worry about. I have 13 other hearts to worry about. I love them. They mean the world to me. And I'd do anything to protect them."

"I understand Michael. Thank you." As Fortune neared the front door he turned around, "have you spoken to Ezra? Is he okay?"

"He's not speaking to me."

"Oh. Well, I'll see you later," Fortune ended with a forced smile on his face.
