Luke drove slowly to his house with a faint smirk on his face.

A faint smirk, that showed a lot.

"What are you hiding." I squint my eyes at him.  He shrugs in innocence.

"Nothing." He giggles.  "What are you hiding?" His eyes scanned over me, then turned back to the road.

"N-nothing."  He glanced back at me.  "Why?" He shrugged again.

"I do have one question, though." he looks at me with bright blue eyes and a cocky face.

"Okay?" I urged.

"Why the hell do I have to keep saving your ass?" He says with a satisfying look of triumph and victory plastered on his face.  I scoff.

"Oh whatever, Lucas." I roll my eyes.

"Oh whatever, Dakota." He laughs. "You know damn right Kat wouldn't have gotten you, and imagine what you Dad would've done!"  Kat most certainly wouldn't have picked me up.  She and I haven't really been on good terms lately... Not since my birthday.

"Well- I-" There was no explaining. "I guess you're right."

Luke just chuckles and pulls into his driveway.  All the lights are off, and there are no cars.  A party was supposed to be going on, but it seemed like nobody was home.

"C'mon." Luke grins.  He unlocks the door as soon as we reach it and opens it.  The familiar setting of his kitchen catches my view.  "Okay, you have to be quiet, everybody is sleeping.  Including a baby." He holds his finger to his lips.  What?

"Sleeping?  Baby?"

"Shh!" He hushes me and pulls me into his room and closes the door quietly.  He flips on a light and looks at me.  A small smile is creeping on his lips.

"You said there was a party here.."

"I may have lied...." He kicks the ground and grins.  "It wasn't here."

"May?" I put my hands on my hips and stare at him.  "And what about a baby?" I question.

"Oh, my niece. Haha." He throws his head back in quiet laughter.  "My brother is home."

"You lied to me, Hemmings." I glare of him.

"I'm sorry, Williams." He grins.  God, his smile is literally perfect.  I roll my eyes, I'm not giving in. I sit on the bed and pout.

"Oh come on." Luke walks over to me.  "It was a small lie."

"And then what?" I laugh.  "Small lies eventually turn into big lies."  I shake my head.  "What about in our future?"

"Our future?  Dakota, we aren't even dating?" Luke says. And my heart breaks.  What was I thinking?

He doesn't want you Dakota.  My mind reminded me.

I quickly close my mouth and start toying with my dress.  "Yeah, right.  I know, that." I laugh nervously trying my best to avoid all the awkward eye contact Luke was giving me.

"Dakota?" Luke says, but I don't respond.

"Never mind.  It's okay.  It was an innocent lie, right?" I finally make eye contact with Luke for a second before turning away.  "I have to use the bathroom." I mumble and run to the small room connected to his.

"Dakota, wait!" Luke called quietly as I locked myself in the bathroom.

That was so embarrassing!

I can't believe I said that!

Our future? Really?

I sat on the toilet and tugged on my hair.
