"Yeah..hey girl what's up? Everything's alright?" I heard Ashley says on the other side of the phone. "Yeah yeah can I um come over?" I stuttered running my hand through my hair. "Omg thank you so much I'll be over in 20 minutes" I said and hunged up the phone. I grabbed Lilly's hand and made my way to Ashley's house. After 20 minutes of walking we finally arrived I was nervous as hell I looked over at Lilly's eyes and all I see is the sadness and fear, I squeezed her hand then knocked on the door it wasn't long until it wide opened and there she was my very best friend carrying worry in her eyes. In less than a second I was greeted in her bear tight hug at that moment the pain came back again I started to tear up but I held myself together from breaking down.
We walked inside and put my suitcase aside then went in the living room where her mom was sitting watching TV, when she saw us she reacted so fast and just like Ashley she pulled me in another hug.
"Oh girls what happened, you look miserable and cold gosh you're freezing, Ashley take Lilly and bath her ok?" Ashley nodded and took Lilly upstairs. While I took a seat on the couch with mrs. Alyssa besides me. "Wanna talk about it hun?" She asked rubbing my back, a tear fell down my cheek as the memories started playing again inside my head, I started explaining the hell I went through how my stepmother kicked us out and how I tried to kill myself taking my sister with me. "Oh darling you have us you're not alone this is your home and you're welcome here as long as you need. Me and your parents are best friends just like you and Ashley, and you know what's else you're just like my daughter Kao" she smiled at me and I smiled back. "Come on get up and take a warm bath and change into clean clothes while I make some dinner ok?" I nodded giving her a hug and whispered a thank you in her ear. I walked upstairs and walked into Ashley's room I saw Ash brushing Lilly's wet hair they give me a warm smile once they saw me enter I smiled back then went into the bathroom starting the warm water to fall on my body.
~Ashley's POV

I finished brushing Lilly's hair and made he lay down on my bed, immediately she fell asleep she must be tired I covered her body with the covers then opened Kaori's suitcase and started unpacking so she wouldn't worry about it I was halfway there when I heard Kaori's phone ringing. It was Thomas but what shocked me that there was 153 unread messages and 73 missing calls only from him, oh that poor guy just so I wouldn't make it harder on him I answered. "Hey..hello..um Kaori are you ok? You haven't been in touch in a while.." he said all in one breath and kept mumbling things asking about Kaori I giggled a bit at his reaction.
"Relax Thomas she's fine she's taking a shower right now and it's Ashley by the way" I explained. "Oh" he said as he let out a sigh of relief. "Everything's alright I mean-" he tried to say but I cut him off. "Wait you don't know?" I asked confused, didn't she tell him? "What do I not know?" He asked getting worried but also angry. "Oh go oh go" I repeated realizing it was such a big mistake. "Ashley explain yourself" he said. "Ok..ok couple days ago Kaori's father passed away.."
"WHAT??!" He freaked out well I can't blame him I can't even believe it myself. "Yeah and today.." I stopped myself thinking if it's the right thing to do. "Yeah? What else happened?" He asked getting more angry, oh God she's gonna kill me for this. "Her stepmother kicked her and Lilly out and now they don't have anywhere to go I don't know the details though but they are staying at my place-" I was cut off by Kaori getting out with a towel on her hair and wearing a pajama. "Hey who are you talking to?" She asked me giving me a small smile. "Give her the phone now!!" Thomas commanded I handed her the phone and whispered sorry she looked at the name of the contact and her eyes went glassy. She took it and put it on her ear she let out a deep breath I didn't notice she was holding. "H-hey"
