"It's negative.", Grace said, looking up at me. I released the breath that I didn't even know that I was holding. "Well, at least that's one less problem. Not that I don't want kids one day, but right now with Xander and everything that's happening...", she trailed off and I nodded.
"I have to get back to work now, I'll see you later.", I told her, walking out of the bathroom. I went back to my office and sat down, putting my head in my hands.
"Uh, Antonio? Can I come in?" I heard Lorenzo call out and I straightened up. "Sí. (Yes.)", I replied, greeting my second in command with a nod. "I have bad news and worse news. Which do you wanna hear first?", he asked, crossing his arms. "Surprise me.", I said, sitting back in my chair.
"So the bad news is that Xander is still in town, and he's been working underground. He's been talking about you quite a lot, Grace too.", he informed me, shaking his head. I raised an eyebrow at him. "What's worse than that?"
"Your mother insists we all have dinner tonight."

"Il mio bambino! (my baby!)", my mother exclaimed, running over to me and embracing me in a tight hug. "Nice to see you too, ma.", I said with a smile. "Why haven't I seen you in months? You promised you'd come and visit me at least every now and then.", she pulled away, putting her hands on her hips.
"He met someone, ma. Give him a break.", Carina walked up from behind me and gave our mother a kiss on the cheek. "Una ragazza? (A girl?) Why haven't I heard of her? You must introduce me at once!", my mother said, a huge smile on her face.
I glared at Carina, who mouthed a love you too at me. "You'll see her at dinner later, okay? I invited everyone, just like you insisted." , I promised her, and that seemed to satisfy her.

"So you're telling me that I'm gonna meet your mother tonight?", Grace asked me, her eyes wide. "Shit, what if she doesn't like me?" She started pacing up and down her room, looking worried.
"Don't worry, she's looking forward to meeting you. You guys should get along, seeing as you're both pazza (crazy).", I told her with a grin. She rolled her eyes and chucked a pillow at me.
"Don't forget to call your father to tell him you won't make it for Sunday dinner tonight.", I reminded her and she nodded. "Already done, now go. I need to shower and get ready."
I smirked and she noticed my change in expression. "No thank you, I'm very capable of showering by myself.", she told me sternly. "I didn't even get to ask.", I muttered, rolling my eyes. She laughed and gave me a peck on the lips.
"Sorry, Toni, but I need to pick something to wear and all that. I'll make it up to you, though.", she promised, winking at me as she disappeared into her bathroom. "Enzo will pick you up in the evening!", I called out, leaving her room.
*Two hours later*
I walked into the dining room and my eyes immediately fell on Grace. She was laughing at something someone had said. She brushed away a stray hair that had fallen from behind her ear and laughed again, replying to whoever she was talking to. The sight of her laughing was enough to have me smiling like an idiot. God, she was beautiful.
What the hell is wrong with you, snap out of it.
I cleared my throat and sat down next to her. "He actually had his first kiss with her, and his braces cut the poor girl's lip.", my mother finished her story, making everyone laugh. "Ma, really? Why can't you talk about Carina for once?", I asked, rolling my eyes.
Dinner was actually nice, it was good seeing my mother after a long time. She seemed to love Grace, much to my relief. It was hard not to, the damn woman begins to grow on you whether you want her to or not.
At some point, my mother pulled me outside to talk to me. "Do you love her?", she asked me, looking at Grace. She was talking to Lisa, unaware that we were discussing her. I contemplated my answer, but decided to just tell the truth. My mother is basically a human lie detector, so it's no use lying to her.
"Yes.", I told her truthfully. She smiled and took my hand, placing something in my palm. I looked down and saw a ring, her ring.
"Ma, I'm not-", I started. "I know, you're not gonna propose right now. But you do plan on marrying her, don't you?", she asked me, studying me carefully. I looked up at Grace again, my Grace. She caught my eye, smiled at me and then carried on with whatever she was doing.
"I do, one day.", I took the ring and put it in my pocket, leaning down to kiss my mother on the cheek. "Thanks, ma." She smiled and nodded, walking back inside.
I turned around to join her but stopped when I spotted a familiar car. Xander walked up to me, a grin on his face. "I hear you've been looking for me, brother." My blood boiled at the sight of him.
And he ruins another perfectly good night.
"And I hear that you've been awfully busy, asking around about me.", I replied. "How's Cole doing?", he asked, walking closer to me. I glared it him. "What's your game, Xander? What do you want?", I spat, cutting to the chase.
"You already know what I want, Antonio. I want my mafia back." I clenched my jaw. "It's not your mafia anymore, you made sure of that when you faked your death."
"Hmm, yeah I guess I did. But you're gonna sign this deed that gives me all your land, including the cartel.", he told me calmly, taking out a piece of paper from his jacket. I stared at him for a couple seconds and laughed, crossing my arms. "And why on earth would I do that?"
"I was hoping you'd ask.", Xander smirked at me. "Because if you don't, dear brother, I'll blow up this house right now. With your beloved Grace in it."

I'm so excited, oh my soul! I can finally share with you what I planned from the time I started writing this book! I'm not sure when the next chapter will be published, because I sometimes just get random bursts of motivation and write for hours and other times I'm just a lazy potato.
Anyway, thank you all so much for reading! Don't forget to vote and comment :)
