"Well, it's about time you get a husband." Michael chortled.
"Husband?" I looked at him as I sat on a chair. "I never found a man worthy enough."
We stayed in silence for almost a minute. I crossed my right leg over my left and he crossed his arms against his chest.
"Well, that's why we gathered some single men--"
"Michael, that's not what--"
"I know where you're trying to get at, and I'm not going to add onto it."
"Um, Michael." I smiled as I stood from the chair. "I actually haven't found a man worthy enough to take place as a King because most of the men that I've met, dont have the things in looking for. And I'm not searching for a specific man for me to be happy. No, I'm giving up my happiness for what's best for Avallon and for the people."
"That's why I'm here."
"What do you mean that's why you're here? I can't marry you."
"I never said marry me."
"Michael." I looked at him and remembered that day.
"What?" He looked at me.
"Accompany me." We headed to the stables, got on horses and had a few of my men follow.
I made sure it looked like we were just going for a ride but i needed to get out of there to not let the servants overhear our conversations.
"Why are we here?" He asked.
"What were you doing?"
"You said accompany you."
"I'm not talking about today, Michael. I'm talking about the day of my return."
"I don't know what you're talking about." He looked away.
"Really? Do I have to refresh your memory?" He refused to look in my direction. "Arya, I feel like I wanna kiss you," I repeated his words. "If i remember correctly, orders were that I was to have all memory of Avallon and my title removed from my memory. You, Leonard- may he rest in peace., and Daisy was to have your memories because of a time like that day were to happen."
"That was just for character."
"No, Ry, I dont think you understand you understand me." I turned to see that the men were at a distance and couldn't hear us.
"No, I do."
"I don't think you do."
"Then help me understand because my role is just to protect you. Be by your side every step of the way."
"M'lady." One of my men called me before i could say a word.
"Yes."
"We've found some tracks and I think it'd be best if you return back to safety." Sir Haurer looked alarmed.
"Take her back to safety. Sir Vlahos, Parker, and MacAninvh will stay here and look around." Michael ordered.
As we were leaving they pulled out their swords and went off their own way to search the area.
"Do not alarm the people until we get word of invaders on the premises," I spoke to Sir Haurer.
"Yes, M'lady."
"If there's word of invaders, you are to go directly to Lord Weylyn and Barton. Inform them of the invaders."
Once we got back to the headquarters Miriam approached me.
"We've arranged a room for the king and his men. We've been sent word that he would have five men with him."
"For a King, he should have at least 20 men with him. But for travel like that, I've always had 40. Sometimes 50 if Lord Weylyn prefers if I'd've had 10 more."
"Would you like me to do anything else?" She asked.
"Mistress Elizabeth Moore informed me of things they need. I wrote a list of the items."
"Is it in your chambers?"
"Yes. On the drawer beside the window."
"Would that be it?"
"Yes. Thank you." Once she walked away I headed to the infirmary.
"Malakai, it's good to see you again." I smiled.
"My Queen." He smiled.
"How is she?"
"Better than ever," Daisy replied as she looked at me from her bed.
"How are you holding up?" I asked knowing she knew I wasn't talking about her wound.
"I'm trying."
"I'm meeting with King Oliver."
"What for?"
"To join in marriage. Malakai, darling." I looked over at him. "Lips sealed." I brought my hand up to my ear as a gesture to keep his lips sealed on my conversation with Daisy.
"That's exciting."
"Yes, it is. Daisy, honey, there might be some intruders so I need you to stay here. Do not go outdoors."
"Intruders? Where are your guards?" She sat up.
"No one but Sir Haurer knows of the intruders."
"Put men on it. Search the perimeter."
"I have men out in the woodlands including Michael."
"Ryder doesn't know a thing of following tracks. He just knows when and where to swing his sword."
"Oh, you underestimated the man." I smiled.
"I do no such thing. Who are the men out in the open?"
"Sir Parker, Vlahos, and MacAninvh."
"Put Simon and Dinklage out."
"If I put Simon and Dinklage out it would alarm the people. The last thing I want is to alarm them. I have those men out and not Simon and Dinklage out for a reason. The second I've got word that its intruders then Sir Haurer would alarm Lord Weylyn and Barton."
"You should at least have men with you."
"I do. I've Sir Voce and Havers."
"That's good."
"I have many things to do today. I'll see you around and hopefully at the dinner table tomorrow."
