"Weylyns townhome was the closest place I could think to go where I knew I'd be safe." Michael fixed his shirt.

"What happened?" Oliver asked as he leaned onto the table.

"We were ambushed by armed men. They knew we were transporting the minister. I think they were his Protestant comrades; he seemed to know them."

"They took the minister with them?" I asked as I sat on a chair.

"But not before they ran him through with a sword."  Michael sat in a chair facing me.

"Why would they kill one of their own?" Oliver questioned.

"There's more. I heard them say that there is no bomb. There never was."

"Well, that makes no sense. Why threaten the Crown with something that doesn't exist?" I looked at Lord Weylyn who just entered the room.

"There's a disturbance in the town. Something to do with the minister."

As we got to the town, the minister was on an upside-down cross, hanging by his feet.

"Hanged like a heretic! This is the crowns doing!" A man began speaking to the people.

"They must know this isn't our doing. I must tell them." Oliver was going to walk ahead but Michael stopped him.

"No. It's not safe." He guided us to a safer place.

"You did this to us. To Avallon. For all that you claim you're trying to protect us, I have lost all faith in you and the man I thought you were." I avoided looking at him.

I woke up to guards entering my room. "Guards, what's happening? What's wrong?" I got out of bed and there were five of them in my chamber.

"An intruder was seen outside the portcullis. We're just checking on Your Majesty."

When they closed the door I knew they weren't my Guards. I couldn't run because I knew they'd catch me so I just watched them. One of them grabbed me and pulled a sword towards my stomach. "Call for help and not only will I kill your unborn child, but I will also kill your catholic son. Do you understand?" I nodded my head.

Another one entered the room with Aladar.

"Your guards are dead." The other one spoke. "Where is your husband?"

"I don't know where he is."

"There are many of us, and few places he spends his evenings. Don't scream, if he walks through the door, you might just live long enough to watch him die."

I kept my eyes on Aladar and he remained quiet. I held him in front of me while the men surrounded me at a distance.

"It's taking too long. Your men may have been caught. They could be coming for you, right now, without warning." I could use my power to get out but if Aladar is with me. The last thing I want is for him to fear me.

"Shut up." One of the men looked at me.

"If you have as many men as you say you do, the halls should be filled with the sounds of battle," I spoke with him in a calm voice.

"It's the dead of night. All your guards see is their own coming until they're cut down. They'll find him."

"Oliver isn't here."
