(Name) lies in the darkness of her room, the moon casting a faint light against the darkness through the window. Tears well in her eyes, the blanket covering her to her nose silencing her sniffles.
"Hey," she hears a whisper and a knock on the window and jumps, turning to the window in fear only to relax upon seeing a familiar figure squatting on her windowsill. She slides the window open.
"What are you here for? Don't you know the time?" She mutters, voice breaking.
Gintoki looks at her with soft eyes. "Your neighbour said she heard you crying."
(Name) averts her eyes as Gintoki jokes lightly, "You woke her up, y'know? You've gotta work on being quiet."
Gintoki watches her stiff movements. "...You had the dream again, didn't you?" He asks softly.
Upon receiving no response, he sighs to himself and slips in, shutting the window behind him.
"Hey, what do you think you're doing?" (Name) asks him, trying to hide her sniffling.
"Shut up," Gintoki says as he gently pushes her back into bed and tucks her blanket around her before climbing over to lie on her other side. He cuts her off before she can speak.
"You can't sleep, right? I'll stay here until you fall asleep, so don't worry, okay?" He smiles, sending her a joking wink.
He receives no response, so he takes seeing her roll onto her side to face away from him is enough of an answer. He moves to be lying on his back, arms crossed behind his head.
"Thanks, Gin." He hears (Name) whisper, a small smile on his lips as he soon hears quiet, peaceful snores fill the room.
