Chapter 4: Favor

"Oi, chibi, are you done with our English homework?" Jesse barged into Aya's room. It's a good thing she was proper that time.

"Do you even know how to knock? I'm a girl here, remember?" Aya responded.

"Ugh, just answer my question,"

"Yeah, all done,"

Jesse walked towards Aya and grabbed the notebook on her desk, "Awesome, you're such a big help, you working on Math?" Aya just nodded, "Okay, tell me when you're done, I'll be in my room,"

Jesse left. Aya could just sigh. She's just excited for their parents to come home. Just another  three days of being alone with Jesse. She's hoping that things will be a bit better once their parents are back.It's almost May. Aya already have a part time job which she thought was nice cause it gave her an excuse to not stay at home when Jesse's home. She knew that she still has strong feelings for Jesse, but, with all what's happening, with all what Jesse's doing to her, Aya knew what she exactly needed to do; she needed to move on, she needed to forget and bury whatever romantic feelings she's holding for Jesse.

Aya nodded to herself as she made one of the biggest decisions of her life, forget her feelings for her ichiban. She took a deep breath, from now on, Jesse will be just a big mean brother to her. She'll avoid him as much as she can and just treat him nice enough for their parents not to notice whatever conflict they have.

"CHIBI!" Jesse knocked loudly at her door.

"What?!"

"I'm going out for a while," then Jesse quickly left.

"Finally some quiet time," Aya thought. But, few minutes after Jesse left, the doorbell rang. Aya groaned as she lazily got up and went down to open the door. To her surprise, it was someone totally unexpected, "T-takaki-kun?!"

"Hey, I'm here to return the game I borrowed from Jesse," Takaki said.

"Oh um.. he just left like literally five minutes ago,"

"It's okay, cause I'm also here to talk to you, may I come in?"

"O-oh, yes yes, come in," Aya quickly made way for Takaki. She went to the living area and let him in, "so um have a seat and... what do you want to talk about?"

Takaki sat down on one of the single sofa, Aya sat across him. Takaki scratched the back of his head first and took a deep breath, "It's actually about Jesse... I know he's being to you and everything he's doing, such as the drinking, smoking, and the girls,"

Aya stayed quiet.

"I may not look like it but I'm someone Jesse would let his problems out, I'm his senpai after all and I take care of my kouhai... he actually only started being like a rebel when his parents' marriage became shaky..."

"It's not that long then..."

"Yeah, he started with the smoking... he went to me and asked me about it, I didn't want him to be a chain smoker, but he insisted... I thought he's just stressed sometimes smoking can relax someone.." then he looked straight at Aya's eyes, "Aya-chan... I need you to rescue Jesse, I know you and Jesse have similar backgrounds, broken family, divorced parents, but the difference is that, you're stronger than him... You were able to cope with what happened to you but Jesse cannot... so please, he's going to need your help, your understanding, your kindness... show him that someone can be there to support him and he doesn't need to resort to bad addictions,"

Aya nervously chuckled, "I-isn't that a bit too much...? H-he basically hates me..."

Takaki shook his head, "He doesn't...he doesn't hate you, you just became someone he can release his frustrations on my being mean, but he doesn't hate you,"
