I turned over in bed and saw Brian getting up for work. I'm about 7 months pregnant, and I'm getting really big.
I'm on maternity leave and I hate being on leave. It's boring not being in action.
"Hey bri" I said to him
"A.. what are you doing awake?" He asked me as he went over to me and kissed my head.
"I don't know.. hey listen, can I come to the firehouse with you today" I asked as Brian went to his closet and started taking out his uniform.
"You sure that's a good idea Amy. With the baby and all I don't want anything happening" he said
"But bri.. I'll be in the same building as two paramedics. And if something were to happen.. would you rather have it happen in a firehouse full of people or here by myself?" I pointed out to Brian.
"Fine you can come" he said and walked out of the room and into the bathroom. I smiled and slowly got up and got dressed.
After I got dressed, I sat on the couch and tried putting on my sneakers but my feet were swollen so I couldn't.
"God damn it" I whispered to myself as my foot wouldn't fit in my shoe.
"Forget it" I added as I threw my shoe on the floor and grabbed my slippers and slipped them on.
After I put both my slippers on I tried getting up but ended up failing.
"A! Are you ready!?" I heard Otis yell from the kitchen.
"Yeah just having trouble is all" I said back.
Brian peeked his head into the living room.
"Trouble with- oh I see" Brian said as he saw I was struggling to get up.
"Are you gonna help me up you dope" I asked smiling.
He smiled and walked over to me and grabbed my hands. He helped me up and then kissed my cheek.
"Let's get going" he said and he headed for the door and I trotted behind him.

"Hey look who stopped by" Hermann said as he hugged me.
"Hey hermann" I said and hugged him back.
"I decided instead of staying at home forever I would come to the station.. I hope you all don't mind" I added
"Ofcourse not, your family" Casey said as he came over to me and draped his arm over my shoulder.
"I know my daughter is not wearing slippers" my dad said as he came over to us.
"My feet are swollen I couldn't fit into my sneakers" I said laughing. My dad looked down at the ground and laughed. He then looked at me and came towards me and pointed his head towards my stomach.
"May I?" He asked
"Ofcourse dad" I said as my dad put his hand on my belly and my baby kicked.
"They know your their grandfather" I whispered to my dad. My dad smiled and kept his hand there.

I was sitting on the couch talking with Brett
"How's being pregnant" she asked
"Exhausting.. it's hard to do things on my own when I have another human being inside me" I said and laughed a little, she smiled and laughed too.
We continue talking then the bell rang
ENGINE 51 AMBO 61 MAN DOWN
"I'll talk to you soon" she said and got up.
Everyone on engine and ambo got up and went to the garage, Otis came over to me and kissed my cheek.
"I'll be back" he said and ran out.
I sat back on the couch and rubbed my belly.

I was watching tv it's been about 30 minutes, engine and ambo haven't returned yet.
I was watching a show called, 'murder made me famous'
I was really watching it, it is a very interesting show.
I saw Severide come and sit next to me.
"What are you watching" he asked as he sat down.
"A show about murderers" I said casually.
He chuckled a little and start watching the show.
His radio was going off, I looked to my side and saw he had his radio strapped on his shoulder. He was just about to lower the radio volume when a call rang through the radio.
"Firefighter down! Firefighter down! It's Hermann" Cruz voice rang out.
I looked at Severide and he got up and turned to everyone on squad.
"Suit up! Let's go to med now" he said.
"Come on Amy" Severide said as he helped me up and walked me to the truck.

We arrived at med and saw everyone there I walked over to Otis and sat next to him.
"Is he ok?" I asked him.
"He's still in surgery.. I was supposed to be his cover, his lookout and I got distracted.. it's all my fault" Otis said
"Bri it's not your fault" I tried saying. My heart was pumping and I was scared Hermann wouldn't make it..
I know it's not Brian fault.. he can't control every thing.
"It's going to be ok bri" I said.

It's been about 2 hours and we still haven't heard of Hermann condition. I was sitting while Brian had his head on my shoulder, he fell asleep. All of his worrying and stress must've tired him out.
Casey, Severide and my dad were the only people here. My dad ordered everyone else to go home and get some rest.
I was getting uncomfortable so I slowly tried to shift in my seat when I felt a sharp pain in my stomach.
I hissed in pain and touched my belly.
I calmed down as the pain went away but 5 minutes later I felt it again.
"Ouch" I whispered. Brian heard me and he sat up. He saw me clutching my stomach.
"A.. are you ok" he asked me starting to get worried.
"I think so" I said but then hissed in pain again.
"Chief" Otis called my dad over.
"What's going on" my dad asked as he saw me in a state of pain.
I felt some liquid trail down my pants. I hissed in pain and realized what was happening.
I looked up at my dad with wide eyes.
"I'm going into labor"
