Genesis💥"This cute?" I ask Valeria as I emerge from behind the dressing room's door sporting this black bodycon dress that fit me like a second layer of skin. Valeria had been showing me around the whole damn city today like I was a tourist, not that I'm complaining or anything. I was actually enjoying myself. Currently we were at Lenox mall just browsing all the different stores after we finished getting our nails done. She had me doing all this girly ass shit that I usually hate doing, but surprisingly when I was doing it with her, it wasn't that bad.
"Damn girl you look like you been eating cornbread all your life! How you get your body like that?" Valeria jokes as she stares at me in awe.
Man I swear Valeria was one of the coolest bitches ever, which says a lot coming from me considering the fact that I can't stand nobody. She was the complete opposite from my mama. Valeria was very chill and laid back, but at the same time she could get rowdy if provoked. I feel like I'm lowkey the same way. People like us were misunderstood and misjudged. We're strongly disliked because we're not a bunch of sugar coating ass, passive, go for anything ass bitches, and people can't handle that. And lord knows that I have tried to be nice to people, I really have, but we all know that you gotta have a little mean streak to get what you want and to earn some respect nowadays. Being nice will make you an easy, vulnerable target and will allow people to take advantage of you, and I'm speaking from experience. So yeah, fuck that all that nice shit. The once lovable, sweetheart Genesis is long gone out the window.
I shrug with a smile. "Genetics?"
Valeria shakes her head. "Well you couldn't have gotten it from ya mama. That bitch built like Flat Stanley." I gasp but then snicker at the accuracy. My mama cool n' all, but her ass was shaped like a damn ironing board.
"You should get the dress," Valeria continues.
"I don't have any money. I'an got no job."
Valeria's eyes widen. "Whaaat? How you seventeen in high school with no job? What yo mama must've been giving you allowance or something?"
"Nope. She said she didn't want me to have a job while I was in school because I wouldn't be able to balance the two."
"Nonsense. It's definitely possible. Having a job teaches you responsibility and that way you won't have to be so dependent on mu'fuckas. Your mom don't know what the hell she talm 'bout." Valeria argues. "You know what, when we get back to our side of town, I'ma take you to go apply to some of them places by the house."
Ugh to be honest having a job had its pros and cons. For one, I was too damn lazy for a job, but then again, having a job couldn't be that bad. It would be nice to have my own money for a change.
"I'ma go ahead and buy you this dress, but I'm serious about you getting a job. Your family ain't gone be around forever so you gone have to learn how to provide for yourself." Valeria adds. She didn't even have to get the dress for me. It wasn't gonna do nothing but collect dust in my closet anyway since I'm more of a casual attire type of person. I ended up letting her buy it for me anyway.
After we were done shopping, we headed to the food court. Valeria got some shit from one of them Japanese restaurants and I was standing in the line at Five Guys. This shit was so damn overpriced but hey, I wasn't the one paying.
