"Wake up you two! We're almost there!"
I exclaim while nudging their shoulders.

Both of them slowly start to crack their eyes open.

"How the hell did you two doze off for that long?"

The two of them rub eyes and slowly come back to the real world. Noah turns, takes something out of his pocket and takes a quick glance at it.

"It's only been an hour and a half."
He says groggily.

"That's an hour and a half more than I slept. I don't understand how you guys can sleep with all this noise."

Jayce sits up and takes a couple sniffs into the air. Then he plugs his nose.

"Well... Maybe it's the stench of your socks that knocked us out...."

He suggests.

"To be fair, they've been trapped in my shoes for three days."

I chuckle.

Right then the train brings to brake. It slows and slows until it comes to halt. Cracking the door ajar I look down the track to see what's going on. I can see a green off in the distance, but it abruptly changes to red.

I slam the door and turn back to see Noah sitting there with elf-like ears perking out from his wavy hair.

"What the he..."

"Shhh!"
He interrupts.

He sits there; blankly gazing towards the opposite wall. His eyes grow wider than the Loch Ness. He begins to breath heavier, and heavier.

"Fuck.... We've been made."

He finally says.

He breaks his gaze to look up at me.

"Can you claw that door open? Unlike the other side it's locked. They're coming from the side we came in."

"How the hell do you know this?"

"I'll tell ya later, gotta get out of here."

I take a step back, do my thing, and shank the door with my hand. A sharp shooting pain comes into my shoulder, but I know I can't stop now. My nails tear through the door as if it were butter. I do it a few more times to mark out an exit. Then I slam my body into the section of steel and fall right through to the outside. The other two aren't far behind as we run into a woodland.

"Follow the trees with the lightning bolt etchings."

Noah yells.

"Why?"
I inquire.

"It'll lead us to a safe place."

"You sure?"

"For fuck sakes. I'm from Queensland. I know the area all too well."

"Hey, I was just asking."

"And I'm giving you a taste of your own medicine."

"Won't they find us? By you know... following the markings?"

"Watch!"

I watch as each etching we pass dissolves into the tree.

We book it for close to 10 kilometres. We finally get to a place where it's safe to take a break. I hunch over attempting to catch my breath. In the corner of my eye, I catch Noah doing the same, and Jayce panting twice as much.

"Holy shit kid; ya kept up."

I say.

"Can I please have some water?"
