New Friends... Well Maybe

It took me a couple minutes to come to a calm state of mind. My eyes were still fiery red, and my fist still clinched together as I turn back towards Willis and the kid.

"What does a group like the A8 want with some little kid?"

I ask.

I see Willis swallow anxiously as he's able to hear the fire in my voice.

      "Come this way, and I will show you."

He says as he walks towards the kid.

As I walk up the kid begins to cower, I'm assuming because he's afraid of me.

    "Sit up Jayce."

Willis says.

As he sits up I notice him staring into my fiery red eyes. His eye open wider, his breathing becomes heavier, and tears start streaming down his face. He is absolutely terrified. Seeing this, I close my eyes and count to five. I can feel the anger and hatred leaving my body, as my eyes turn hazel again.

     "Jayce, this is Raider. He has promised to protect you."

Says Willis.

His demeanour didn't change. He's still cowering, crying and shaking more than he was before. I look over to Willis because I don't know what to do. He pulls out a small teddy bear out of Jayce's bag. 

Jayce couldn't seem to wrap his arms around it tight enough. He sits up, wipes away his tears, and looks over at me. I kinda feel bad; which is a feeling I haven't felt in a while.

   "You're not going to hurt me, are you?"
He asks.

"As long as you don't give me a reason too...you're safe."

He clinches his teddy bear even harder, and the tears are starting to come again.

I let a sigh and say.
"I'm joking kid... Willis would try and have me hunted down if anything happened to you. I don't like those kinda hunts... they're too easy for me."

He looks up, then begins to glance back and forth at Willis and I. After about 10 seconds he focuses on me.
   "You kinda sound like a jerk."
He says.

"You're not the first one to tell me that. Probably won't be the last either. But hey, if you give me my space, I give you yours...and I make sure nothing happens to you."

  "Well, I'm stuck here anyway I guess."

"Now, can someone explain why the A8 is after you?"

By now he's stopped crying and seems to be in control of his emotions. He begins to untuck a black necklace from under his shirt. He trustingly puts it down on a table for Willis and I to examine. We both sit down on each side of him to do so.

My eyes latch to the dark blue stone that sits in the middle of the pendant. It is something so rare, that it even shocks me.

"One of the three Elements..."
I say.

In the corner of my eye, I see Willis shoot a confused glance my way.

        "You know what this is?"

He asks.

"Yeah, don't you?"

"..."

"You idiot! You're asking me to protect this kid, and you don't even know why the A8 is after him..."

    "Well, if you put it that way..."

"This stone is one of the three elements... Emotie, Skotadi, and Lampsi. When all three stones are combined together they create an unstoppable power. That's why there's two other spots on the pendant.
