Chapter four
¦1943, 15 september¦

I awoke to find myself not in my cozy bed or even in the protection of my house. I awoke to find myself in another world. His world. I was feeling dizzy from the time change, but slowly I was better. Better than in my world because I had a purpose, but more lonely because I had... no one. No Ron to make me feel better, no Luna or Ginny to laugh with me, no Draco to stand with me..

I shook the memory from my head. Tears were falling down and I hughed loneliness in that morning. It wasn't good for my health, to cry everytime when I was alone, especially that I was on a mission. I stood up from my bed silently not to wake up the rest of the girls and I saw a broken girl in the mirror.

'This isn't me.' I whispered while I was wiping away my tears.

'Who isn't you?' a honey voice asked behind me.

I turned round to face a pretty girl staring at me. She had a long black hair with brown highlights. Her lips were full and very red - like an old lipstick I had - but she knew that the girl's lips were natural because she barelly had woken up. She wasn't pretty. She was very beautiful.

'I'm Ruth,' the girl said noticing my silence. 'Ruth Black.'

'I'm Hermione Willowtree.'

'Willowtree?' the girl widened her eyes. 'Like Alice Willowtree?'

'I am sorry, like who?' I asked, furrowing my eyebrows. I had never heard before about Alice Willowtree.

'You don't know the story? It's very popular nowadays.'

'Please, tell me.' I said slowly.

'Alice in Willowland. It is a very known story, with a girl, named Alice Willowtree - and in my opinion is quite ironic - who leaves her home and follow a -'

'Rabbit.' I cut her.

'Yes, a rabbit. But it's strange for her. I mean, she is a witch. Why would she want to follow a rabbit? She could hex him or something or.. '

But I stopped listening the girl. I knew the story very well. It was a popular muggle story, Alice in Wonderland. And it seemed that some wizard copied the real story.

'Who wrote it?'

'Augustus Lockheart.' said Ruth simply.

When I heard the name of the writer, I couldn't stop myself and I started to laugh very hard. Ruth looked at me curious, but she didn't asked me why I was laughing so hard. Instead, she added:

'You know what is my favourite passage from the book?' I said no and she continued. 'The little girl just could not sleep, because her thoughts were way too deep, her mind had gone out for a stroll and fallen down the rabbit hole.' she said fastly. It looked like she loved the book, but I didn't said anything in return. She was nice, but I couldn't attach myself to anyone, because at the right time, I would go back somewho and I didn't want to lose another friend.

'Let's go to the Great Hall. I'm starving.'

'And they are the Pets.' Ruth said noticing that I was staring at Tom Riddle and his group. I recognised Anne - the tall girl from the day before - in Tom's company. He turned from a blonde haired boy and looked straight at me. Chills were running down my spine and like a lightning, the memory from the library came to my mind.

When I looked at him, I couldn't help but see a part of myself staring back at me. Of course, without the dark magic. He was one of the bad guys. Godric, he was more than just a bad guy. He was evil.
