TRICK-OR-TREATING

Anything that can go wrong will.

Walking over to Tanner's house only took a rough amount of fifteen minutes, that is if you weren't to take the short cut. The lucky part of Fallon's home was that directly behind her house was a massive empty field with trees on the outskirts. Though the tall grass came up to their knees while some spots were up to their shoulders in height.

Using this short cut through the tall grass field meant it would only take seven minutes to get to her friend's house. Often times, they would bike over to make the trip faster but Fallon didn't dare bike in her costume, she was too afraid to rip.

Fallon walked along the small path she and the others had made over the many times of traveling back and forth. As she traveled and had past by the midway point, the marking being a rather large weird shaped rock in the middle of the path, she jumped at the sound of a crow calling from a nearby tree. Some trees were sprinkled around the area but closer toward the edges of the field they grew thicker.

"Just a stupid crow,' she muttered to one in particular and continued walking once her heart stopped racing.

Moving a tad bit faster, Fallon finally cleared the edge of the field, weaved around some trees before coming out into a culdesac. Walking down the street, careful not to bump into any cars, she stopped at the door of house 1672. A single ring of the doorbell created a chain reaction. Fallon could hear the sound of thundering footsteps running down the stairs and something crashing to the ground before the door was ripped open.

"Hey Fal, you're early." Jackson said with a goofy grin. "Come on inside," he bowed to let her pass through.

"How kind of you," Fallon said mockingly with a grin before slipping off her shoes inside the house and dropping the pillow case at her feet. "What's the plan?"

"Two hours till we can go out into the night and get some sweet free candy," Tanner answered. "My vote we play on the xbox till my sister comes home with the pizza."

"Dibs on playing first!" Jackson yelled, racing upstairs into Tanner's room.

Tanner rolled his eyes as he closed the door, and he and Fallon walked up after Jackson. They played for about an hour, switching off every few rounds or so before the sound of the door unlocking made them all freeze.

"Pizza," they all shouted in unison and pushed against each other, racing down the stairs to get the first slice of heaven.

Fallon felt a buzz from her pocket and pulled out her phone to reveal a new text had popped up. She scrolled through it before sighing.

"Looks like Gianna can't make it tonight, she's going with her younger brother instead," she frowned.

"Just means there will be more candy for us," Jackson grinned and Fallon punched him for the second time in the shoulder that day.

"Come on, my mom bought this whole pizza, let's finish it before going out you two love birds," Tanner suggested, and Fallon made a face.

Although it may not look like it, Fallon and Jackson were definitely not dating. Fallon had known Jackson since the second grade, ever since he had poured milk on her head during lunch, and they had been best friends. It hadn't been till one year later in the third grade when they met Tanner, who had just moved from Australia.
