Chapter 6: Ugh!!
Cheryl was showering in her mothers bathroom. Her shower was broken or something. She didn't know. She felt all dirty the last time she did showered was a week ago. The feeling was something she didn't enjoy, it made her feel like she was less than what she was. She got out of the shower wrapping the towel around her body, going into her room getting ready to put on her favorite PJs. "Daddy!" She yelled. Clifford attempting to be angry at Cheryl tried his best to walk up the stairs but hearing his baby shriek mad him run upstairs. "Yes...." He gasped for air. "What......is....wrong dear?" He said steadying his breathing.
"You forgot to read to me." Cheek said holding up her favorite book. Clifford sat on the bed next to Cheryl and sighed. "Honey are you sure you don't want to read a more, I don't know grown up book?" Cheryl shook her head. She liked that book. He read it to her everyday without questioning her. "Daddy its my favorite book! Please read it." She said whispering the last part. "Clifford!" She heard her mother yell. "I'll be back princess." He said kissing her forehead and getting up to leave. He stopped at the door. "You know sooner or later you're gonna have to grow up sweetie" He walked out.
Cheryl was speechless, how, how could get daddy tell her to GROW UP. He was the reason she hadn't been able to grow up. He baby-ed her so much she never had a real childhood. She hated the feeling she got when someone who was her age went out and did what "normal teenagers did" and here she was still having her father tuck her in at night. What was she thinking!?! Having had enough she slammed the door. Hard enough for her mother and father to stop arguing and hard enough for the 2nd floor to shake. She locked the door and got into bed crying.
She wasn't a baby! She wasn't! She was big, as big as they got. She wanted to prove she could be big, be what her mother and father wanted her to be. If she believed in herself she wouldn't need anyone to. "Cheryl, you god forsaken girl! Open this door!" Penelope Blossom yelled as she banged on the door second after second. "Go away mommy." Cheryl whispered. She wanted to speak up she did but, as always she was a coward. She never faces her problems and that's why Toni hadn't came by to see her that's why her father hates her and that's why her mother wishes she was dead.
"Open this damn door now!" She yelled once more. Cheryl covered her ears bringing her knees up to her face. "No no no no no no no." She repeatedly said with her eyes squeezed shut. "God can you be normal for once! Can't you be like Jason! Can't you be like everyone else! You're useless! You're nothing! Grow up!" That was enough to push Cheryl over the edge. She got out of bed unlocked the door and swung it open. "You think I asked to be like this, everyday I wake up and wish I was someone. I try and I try and I try to be the daughter you want me to be. I can't help it if I'm not like Jason mommy. I can't help it if I'm not perfect daddy. Most importantly I can't help it if I was born into a family full of people who don't even care about me. Trust me I want to change I want to be who you want me to be but I can't if for the last 4 years of my life I have been trying and trying and trying to be this perfect daughter, this perfect girl that you guys saw when i were born. Not perfect and I'm trying tired of trying to be perfect it's exhausting I'm constantly being compared to Jason isn't making it any better it's just making me feel even more useless and I already feel. my self-esteem is always been no but here my parents talk bad about me and talk down on me every single day is just enough to make me want to end it! I don't know how many more times I can apologize before I explode!" She said closing the door.
She had had enough of all of her parents drama. All she wanted to do is lay down in her bed and take a nap. She wished she could open up to Toni the same way, but she couldn't Tony already thought that she was a freak and she knew it although they had shared that moment in the bookstore the day before she didn't believe that it was real at most she believed it was just a simple day dream that she had during class. Jumping into bed and turn off the light Cheryl fell fast asleep not caring about what her parents would do the next day all she cared about was that she got our feelings out, hopefully her parents would understand.
The Next Day
Cheryl had been awoken by the sound of her alarm clock. She woke up feeling good she had no idea why maybe it's because for works at her like she has stood up to her parents. She wish she had that kind of confidence in school when everyone's picking on her. she got out of bed put on her slippers and opened her door and proceeded to walk down stairs. She was met with a angry mother in a semi angry father. They both eyed her as she sat down at the table. "Morning." Cheryl whispered holding her head down. Her confidence she at once had was now gone the looks on her parents faces were both disappointed and angry and she didn't know what to apologize for, for yelling at them or for telling the truth. She was both embarrassed and sad about her actions. what would happen if her mother had told Toni? What would happen if her father had told Toni?
She will look at her completely different. Cheryl was scared but most importantly, she was guilty. Guilty of not being grateful enough guilty of killing their parents guilty for disrespecting the most of all guilty because she had let herself go to extreme. her father cared about her and her for what she had said to him hurt him just as much as they had hurt her. her mother although her mother had never said anything nice to her she was still sad she shouldn't have let herself go off like that. She had lower herself down to your mother's level. She walked out of the house close the door and began walking to school. she didn't expect her parents to offer her a ride this morning because of how she had blown up at them the night before. while walking someone has said in front of her causing her to bump into them and drop her books.
"What the heck!" She screamed. She did her giggle and all too familiar giggle. The same giggle she had heard at the bookstore. "Snappy Cherry I like it." Toni said smiling looking down at the girl. She'll quickly picked up her books. "What do you want?" Cheryl said beginning to walk again a lot faster than before. "Hey!" Toni yelled as she ran behind a girl. "I don't feel like talking Toni." She said as she kept walking. "Wait wait wait what happened? You're usually so happy, I know because I spent two weeks with you. Even though you're a little too old for a babysitter." She said laughing at the last part. Cheryl sighed has she stopped walking and turned around.
"I did something bad, r-really really bad. I don't think Mommy and Daddy can ever forgive me for that." She said as she started tearing up. "What you do tell them you want a new book?" She said laughing at her humor. Cheryl look up with teary eyes. "You know what Toni, sometimes your humor gets old and would it kill you to actually care about what I have to say!" She yelled "whoa whoa whoa." She said that Cheryl sped walked away.
"I'm so stupid." Cheryl said as she got on the bus walking to the back so no one could see her face. She weakly put her hands onto her face and cried, sobbed actually. She didn't even care if anyone heard her.
All she could do was sob.
