Punishment

Calvin's POV.

I knew I had to take what was coming to me, I knew I'd be in serious trouble but it turns out Olivia didn't say a word. "You're not gonna shout at me? Or slap me? Or ground me?" I asked as we drove home, I could see her hands tighten around the steering wheel.

"I would never hit you Calvin, that's child abuse" she said quietly before stopping the car.

"Yeah but it's a parent thing" I said assuming it was.

"No. It's not a parent thing Calvin and I never said you weren't grounded" she said taking out her iPhone (it's a sad time when your mom has a cooler phone than you and I know people don't really say cool anymore but old fashioned slang for old fashioned phones) and calling Elliot.

"El I'm gonna be late OK" she said frustratedly and Elliot must've agreed because she thanked him and hung up, she then texted someone before driving off.

When we got home I found out that I was being babysat by Lucy. "Why can't I come to the squad with you, I don't need a babysitter" I groaned and Olivia gave me "the look" Nick calls it the killer Benson look whenever he says this she just rolls her eyes and walks off while the two of us laugh.

"Nick could babysit" I said but Olivia shook her head.

"No he can't he's working the same case as me and El so he's already at the squad" she said and I just plonked myself on the chair.

It had been two days since Olivia had "grounded" me, even though she was always at work so she never knew. School seemed to be getting worse, I didn't have any friends here I wish I could just be homeschooled and never have to go back to that hell hole, I mean Olivia is pretty smart she made it through college right? So I'm sure she could teach me the basics. My thoughts were interrupted by Jay and his pathetic little crew.

"So did your mommy put you in jail for kicking me?" he joked.

"No actually" I said annoyed I mean just cause she's a cop doesn't mean she's gonna treat me like a convict.

"Yeah well you're not worth the effort, why'd you think your real parents gave you up" he smirked but I just held it in.

"My real parents are dead! and I'm glad!" I yelled, (even though my dad wasn't dead and it was still a cruel thing to say I said it anyway and I wasn't taking it back)

"Aww an orphan poor you, well you would've had a brother if you didn't kill him, I'm surprised you didn't kill your parents" I can't believe he thinks I killed Noah! It was an asthma attack!

"I DIDN'T KILL HIM! HE HAD AN ASTHMA ATTACK AND DIED IN OLIVIA'S ARMS!" I yelled and the vice principal approached.

"What's going on?!" she asked in her fancy, uptight, British accent.

"He said I killed my brother?" I said with kind of more of a question.

"Well no yelling" she said before running to our principal (who I think she has a crush on - it's OK he's a guy).

"I'll get you I don't care if your mommy's a cop I'll get her too" Jay said walking off, I carried on as usual not thinking much of it until I got home.

Olivia's POV.

I collected Calvin from school and took him home. I decided to do my paperwork at home, so I could spend time with Calvin. "Come on homework time" I said taking the remote from his hands.

"I need a break if you had homework you'd understand" he moaned.

"I do"

"No you don't"

"Oh yeah what's this" I said plonking a heavy loaf of files onto the table.

"OK you win" he says going to his schoolbag and taking out his books.

"Come on we can do it together" I said starting off. Our conversation was interrupted by  Calvin's phone. "I'll get it" I said picking up the phone, I was about to speak but was interrupted.

"Alright Calvin very funny but now it's personal and your mommy can't protect you now, she'll just punish you like last time cause she just thinks your a brat who no one wants and she's trying to fix you" said some kid.

"He does not need to be fixed!" I yelled not catching myself in time to control my anger.

"Who's this? His babysitter"

"His mommy" I said angrily.

"Oh m-miss Benson I-I oh I-I'm sorry" he stuttered and I just sighed.

"Uh huh that's what I thought" I said hanging up the phone.

"Who was it?" Calvin asked.

"Oh just um... a wrong number that's all" I lied...
