Pierce’s POV

I walked out of the hospital, in stolen clothes from an open locker, carrying a duffel bag filled with gauze, ointment and any sort of painkillers I could swipe.

I was already wheezy from the smell and noise of the city. The streets were always dark and it was starting to rain. I found a payphone which is a miracle today; everyone already has a mobile on them. I walked up to a young lady in a yellow rain coat; I put on my charming smile.

“Excuse me miss, do you have a quarter?” I asked. My little act worked and she handed over 3 quarters with a smile. “I’ll make it up to you sometime,” I said suggestively, “but you’d have to lend me another quarter so I could make the call.” She laughed and continued on her way, normally getting a chick to laugh would make me happy, but I just felt more depressed. Maybe I spent too much time with other girls and not enough time with my beautiful best friend.

I quickly made the call to Macy my old city slicking friend. She would hopefully be willing to help me out of this hell hole surrounding the CBD.

Aileen’s POV

I fiddled with the pick, long after giving up playing. I used to play religiously, I could practically play anything I heard, but I guess it isn’t like riding a bike. I’m not the same girl I was all those years back, not the girl who collected plush toys and played love songs for hours at a time on her beautiful guitar, I’m not this girl with the rose patterned wall paper and the stupid girly clothing. I was out of place in this massive house, it was too hot, but I felt frozen. It was so quiet, but the sight of everything was loud. I gave up starring at my bright pink pick and moved towards my craft box.

I scrimmaged through it looking for the sharpest tool I could find, fabric scissors. I ran my finger over the blade wondering how much pressure I’d need to apply to draw blood. I pull down the side of my shirt and started to stroke the skin below my collar bone with the blades edge. It surprised me how much I had to press it felt like I was puncturing rubber, I barley felt the pain and after while it was all just fuzzy. Once I stopped the blood started to roll like tears down my chest,  they stained the new shirt my dad bought me, a dark crispy red against the silky yellow material.  It was almost pretty in a tragic way. I stood in front of my mirror to admire my work and debating cutting higher.

Pierces POV

“It’s my own fault you know?” I confessed to Macy between sips of beer.

“No way! There was nothing you could have done, it’s her own fault,” Macy told me then continued taking long swigs from her half empty tequila bottle.

“That’s just it! It’s not her fault she did nothing to deserve this, but he’s still legally in charge of her, she doesn’t have a choice,”  I popped the lid of another beer bottle starting on my fourth, “She told me about her family a little before, she doesn’t deserve to be stuck with people like that.”

“You know what you need?” Macy said taking a seat next to me on her beat up sofa, in her make-shift living room of her one bedroom apartment.  “First of all tequila, $ex and to MOVE ON already, she’s probably already kissed and made up with her rich daddy.”

I stared at her blankly, I didn’t know if it was the alcohol or the meds I was taking, but I couldn’t see any logic in what she was saying, “No May I can’t alright… I just can’t,” I confessed quietly.

“Come on lets go to a club or something we’ll take your mind off all of this,” but I shook my head, “then what do you wanna do?” she snapped impatiently.
