Aileen's POV
I jumped at the sound of a voice that wasn't Pierces. "Finally I never thought he'd leave." Sheer terror ran down my spine, but as long as I could stay alive long enough for Pierce to return I'd be fine. 15minutes, hold out for 15 minutes.
"Relax if I wanted to harm you I'd have told the police about this place,"
What he said made sense which made no sense, why would he help me?
"What is it you want?"I said half stalling and half curious of what he'd say.
Ignoring me sadly he said, "I led the police away from here, made you a different identity, huh, now their doing an intense search of a chicken 'n' chips shop near the school," he sat down next to me. I threw up a little in my mouth as his closeness.
"Listen" I said carefully "I don't have your knife anymore I sold it to the antique dealer by the bank," I lied my as$ off.
'' How's your leg?"
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger"
"Here," he handed me bandages and antiseptic cream.
"What are you doing?" I cringed at him, "Why are you here? And if that's it then GO away," there's no politeness in what I said, but I am hobo for crying out loud not some high class heiress anymore. Geez.
He looked at me curiously, "Honestly? I don't know I guess curiosity, my dad always said I got that from my mom he said that's what killed her, there's a limit in life and a price to pay when it's crossed."
"Tell me about it," but a rustle in the bush and he was bolting.
"Wait!"I called.
He turned back to look at me.
"What's your name?" I narrowed my eyes.
"Amir," he smiled and left.
A minute later Pierce appeared, "hungry?"
"Yeh"
"What's wrong something happen when I was gone?" he looked at me concerned.
"um yes I............ uh found more bandages and antiseptic spray"
I could blame a lot of things on why I didn't tell Pierce the truth, my concussion, That I'd panicked, I'd been confused, that I was scared I'd hallucinated or dreamt the whole thing. To be honest though, I wasn't honest to Pierce because I wanted to handle this on my own.
After lunch Pierce and I sat down awkwardly dinking our green tea. "I am so bored!"
Pierce just smiled.
"It's not funny!" I softly punched his shoulder.
"Ok then what do you want to do?"
"I dunno there's not much to do"
"Here give me your cup."
"Why?" I laugh as he snatched my cup from me.
"I'm going to tell your fortune in the tea leaves."
"Ok then Mr Fortune teller what is it you see?"
"I see a French pig in your future," he half-sang.
I grabbed his cup and matched his tone balling my hand into a fist and shoving it near his face threateningly, "I see a fat shiner in yours," laughing and goofing off with Pierce like this finally gave me the reassurance I needed, I had made the right decision.e
See I first met Pierce in the dead heart of the city. He'd found me in a dumpster, he was running from the police and jumped into the dumpster and almost killed me, I'd hurt my ankle and couldn't walk on my own, he helped me to this dumpy restaurant where he stole a cane from some sleazy rick man who carried a cane in the name of fashion for me. Also he stole me a hot drink and leather jacket; he'd been like this almost his whole life so he knew all the tricks.
I came from a wealthy family, but my mom died when I was Seven. Only two years later my dad remarried. His new wife forced him to disown me because she was an evil b*tch. So, I spent eight months eating garbage I was lucky Pierce found me. After we ate he told me his plan to leave the city claiming it to not be safe, he offered to let me come with him. At first I thought no way but he said "What do you have to lose."Saying that had been enough and I gave in and went with him, I'll never regret that. I smiled to myself.
"You," I murmured.
"huh?" Pierce looked at me quizzically.
"I never answered you."
"um..."he looked at me a little clueless as to what I was saying.
"When we first met you asked me what I had to lose I never answer you because I never had an answer."
"Oh?"He kind of smiled.
"Well I do now and it's you Pierce, all I have to lose was and still is you."
Then he leaned in and kissed me.
