A Phone Call Away

Chapter 17- A Phone Call Away

Carrie's P.O.V.

There we were, sitting in the very back seat of the car, freezing might I add, drenched with water, Alex sitting next to me. I was shivering and trying to warm myself up.
I suddenly felt a rush of warmth as a hand was slowly slipped into mine, fitting like a puzzle piece. I Looked over to see it was none other than Alex day. I squeezed his hand lightly. Leaning over, I curled up to his shoulder, seeing him smile from the corner of my eye. It just felt so right. I smiled too, and then closed my eyes.

When we arrived back at Charlie's, it was no surprise that Kat was still sound asleep. Alex too, our hands now loosely intertwined. It was already quite an exhausting day, plus the rain kind of puts you into tired state of mind. I gently shook Alex awake, watching him blink several times until realizing where he was. I smiled again.
Dan and Peej were getting out of the car on the left side, leaving me waiting so I could push down the seat only to escape into the biting winds of late November. We all decided to just head home, being exhausted and all. Dan and Phil suggested that they take Kat to there flat at least until she woke up. Peej carried Kat to Dan's car and gently sat her down in the back seat and as silently possible, closed the door.

Charlie's P.O.V.

I got out of the car and rubbed my eyes, lifting up my glasses. Everyone had decided to head home, but of course, then there was me, not wanting to be alone on a Saturday afternoon, so I asked if Alex and Carrie wanted to stay for dinner, and of coarse they gratefully accepted. After all, no one can pass up a dinner invitation on sushi night.

Later that night, after eating our failed sushi creations, we sat down to watch a late night horror movie. Ok, fine, it was, "Scary Movie 3". Thats when I got the call. It was from Kat as I saw as the caller ID picture popped up. I stepped into the other room to take it.
" Hello?" I said with a smile that quickly dropped into a frown of worry and anguish, almost scared. The line was so quite, I could hear Carrie and Alex laughing in the living room as the movie continued.
" Oh my god, um, we'll be right there." I said, hesitantly hanging up, staring at the black screen of my phone.
Returning to reality, I walked slowly back into the living room still holding my phone in the same upright position.
"Hey guys, um..." There smiles faded when they saw the expression on my face. "Pj is in the hospital, Kat's with him..."
"Oh my god, what happened?!" Carrie asked worriedly, getting up suddenly from her place on the couch. " I don't know, but he's hurt pretty bad. We better get over there..." I said, still moving a bit in slow motion.
"Well let's go already! Come on!" Carrie said, rushing to the door with Alex not far behind. We made our way to the car and I reached for the handle of the drivers seat, but Carrie grabbed my arm.
"Let me." She said looking into my eyes honestly. I let her. I stepped into the back seat while Alex got the passenger seat.

Dan's P.O.V

I pulled the car into our parking area of our flat and opened the door to get out. I yawned, seeing the night sky growing dimmer and the air getting colder. While getting ready to go up the steps to our flat, I stopped hearing a door open and slam close as rapid steps shook the stairs. To my surprise, it was Phil.
"Hey Phil, what are you-"
"I'll tell you in the car, just come." Phil interrupted, but by the look on his face, I didn't question him and followed close behind, running around to the drivers seat. I started the car, practically throwing the keys into place and turned around backing out as quickly as possible.
"Explain please?" I said, scared but curious.
So he explained the situation, at least everything he knew. The whole time, he didn't take his eyes off the road.
