Meeting Charlie

Chapter 3- Meeting Charlie

I'd already unpacked everything that I brought. I wonder when I should go and get furniture. I probably should go with Emily sometime, she's good at that kind of stuff. I decided to go grocery shopping. I needed my tea. Of course, other food too. But mainly for tea.

I decided the nearest super market was in walking distance and I might as well get to know the area. I grabbed my keys, slipped on my jacket, and headed out the door. Luckily, I was near the front of the complex, so I easily walked out to the sidewalk.(or pavement in England) there was a wind in the air so I zipped up my jacket, placed my hands in my pockets, and continued walking. Maybe I should go meet up with Charlie tomorrow. I thought. I'll let him pick the place. I've only been here for a couple of days, after all.

I decided to text him.

Hey Charlie, I'm just chilling now, if you want to meet up I'm free anytime. I can take the tube.

I wouldn't have internet for about 2 weeks, so there was really nothing to do. I got up to get my book and then sat down by the window. It's cold but I like it.

I got about 2 chapters in before my phone buzzed. I looked and it was from Charlie. It said:

Kat, I could pick you up if you want? I was thinking we could go and sit in Starbucks a while. What do you think?

-Charlie

I thought for a minute, then responded.

That would be great, thanks! I live in the summer wood apartment complex, apartment 301. Time?

-Kat

I know English people use the word flat instead of apartment, but I'm American so, I didn't want to seem weird. My phone buzzed and he replied:

How about 30 minutes? I don't live to far from your place.

-Charlie

Sounds good, Charlie! I'll be waiting.

I put down my phone and finished the chapter I was on in my book, "The Fault in Our Stars." I heard they were coming out with a movie so I wanted to finish the book first. I also heard a lot of Youtubers were reading it so I wanted to too. And it's good.

I got my usual stuff when I go out, my purse, phone, idea notebook, and that's about it.

Around 30 minutes later, I got a text from Charlie:

Hey Kat, I'm outside.

-Charlie

I responded quickly:

I'll be right there!

-Kat

I was wearing a white blue dress with a white scarf loosely hung around my neck and a white overcoat and flats. I wore my hair in a loose braid down my back. I rummaged for my keys and opened the front door being careful not to let stubs run out. He's already made himself at home.

I closed the door behind me and locked it. I walked down the two flights of stairs to find, in fact, Charlie McDonnell in the drivers seat. I walked over and got into his car. Charlie turned around and places his hand on the passengers seat to look at me.

"You look beautiful." He said.
