"I can't do this anymore"
"Can't do what anymore?"
"Living"
"Amira, don't tell me you're thinking about killing yourself"
"Don't do it"
"No, I'm not. I'm too much of a sissy to end myself"
"But I'm so sick of being here, L."
"Is there anything that happened to suddenly bring this on?"
"My dad"
"He beat me today. With the chain from our broken gate lock."
"I don't know what I did wrong. But I think"
"I think he's been doing illegal drugs. I think my dad was high on something.."
"Oh god, Amira"
"I swear if I could, I'd punch that old man's lights out. You know that right?"
"Thanks."
"You care, unlike my mom. She walked in while it was happening. She didn't look phased at all.. she was probably drunk but she only said 'She still has to go to school tomorrow' and left."
"Amira.."
"Is there nowhere else you can go to avoid them?"
"No."
"My relatives hate me, my family hates me.. my older sister would take me in, but I don't want to be a burden."
"You aren't a burden, Amira."
