My stomach grumbled, and I squirmed in my seat. I hadn't eaten since two days ago at dinner. I couldn't help but think if I was prettier, thinner, L would have thought I was worth meeting that day. It's a pathetic feeling, and I hate it--but I can't ignore it.

I remembered the text L had sent me just a few hours earlier, pulling my phone out to read over it again.

"Eat lunch. Please, for the love of God, eat lunch."

I scowled at my phone before quickly putting it back in my pocket--but I was too late, because suddenly the class went eerily silent. I looked up; the teacher was staring me down.

"Miss Summers. Is that phone more important than my class?"

"N--no sir," I murmured, and some kids snickered. God, so immature. They're Juniors in highschool and still giggling about someone getting in trouble.

He walked up and slammed an orange slip onto my desk. "Detention after class, Amira."

Suddenly, a voice shouted out. "Oh come on, Mr. Diez! Who shoved a stick up your ass?"

The teacher lifted his head and glared behind me. "Alright Lukah. After school detention for you, too." I expected the stupid kid to groan, but he was silent after that.

When I turned around, his blue-green eyes were trained on me. He gave me a little smirk, and I could only turn around and let my head fall back onto my desk.

Today is going great for me.
