This is an idea which Naruto in modern life.

Naruto lives in an orphanage. The owner or headmaster or whatever they're called beats and neglects them but Naruto takes all the beating a and takes care of the other kids. Naruto also gets bullied at school but is best friends with Sasuke. Naruto starts getting more friends because of Sasuke and they don't know that he lives at an orphanage. Sasuke knows that he's an orphan but not that he's getting abused.
