Has anyone read The Zodiac Legacy series by Stan Lee, may he rest in peace?

Basically Steven's parents didn't just neglect him, they also abused him. His mother not as much, but his father did. Every time he does something Mr.Lee doesn't like, he hits Steven. How does this affect Steven?
