That's What Boyfriends Are For

Wade's P.O.V.

I'm keeping an close eye on Peter when we leave Cap behind, our ten minutes over. Nodding in MJ and Ned's direction, letting them know it went okay. I told them the entire plan, and they knew Cap was gonna be here. Betty seems confused, but we'll fix that later.

Walking out into the main area of the museum, Peter pulls me with him in the direction of the bathrooms. His grip tightens on my hand when we need to go through the rest of our class, but he relaxes when the door closes and we are alone. I sit down, pulling Peter with me, and he straddles me hiding his face in my neck.

"Hey baby, are you okay?" I whisper softly.

"I'm not sure"

"Why not?"

Peter hesitates a bit before answering, and I can feel my shirt getting wet slowly. Which means he's crying, and I don't like that, so I wrap my arms around him and pull him even closer.

"I mean, I loved seeing him. But I also didn't in a way. I don't know"

"Babe, can I tell you a story?"

He moves his face until his lips are only an inch away from mine, stains of his tears down his cheeks, and staring into my eyes. He locks his lips with mine and we start to move them in perfect rhythm with each other. I pull my hands from his waist, and move them up to his face, stroking his cheeks with my thumbs. I stop him from kissing me again after we both gasp for air, much to both of our dislikes, but I realise I only have 10 minutes to do this and I really need to say this.

"Babe, I'm sorry but I really need to tell you this"

"Sorry" His cheeks flush red with embarrassment, and I laugh, he gets cute when he blushes.

"Oh believe me, I didn't mind" I wink before continuing, my hands on his waist again, keeping him close to me "Two weeks ago, I emailed Pepper if I could meet with her sometime. I know you never had full closure, and I really think it would help you a lot. Pepper said yes, so we looked at her schedule and realised she would be free next week. We made an appointment for next wednesday, but after we heard about the fieldtrip, I realised I couldn't wait until after this to talk to her, so I called her made sure we could meet before today. And we did"

I stop, examining Peter's face. He looks so vulnerable, I don't know whether to continue or not. My eye falls on the clock above the door, and I realise I only have 4 minutes left. So I raise my brows, asking for his consent to continue. He nods, giving me an very small, barely noticeable smile. But I do notice and smile back before moving along.

"Tony recorded a speech before the whole time-travel thing, and it was played at his funeral. You weren't there, as I was keeping you busy outside. I'm sorry for that, I really am, but we didn't think you would be able to handle it that soon. Pepper has the recording, and we want to show it to you. But only if you're okay with it"

"I wasn't ready"

"Babe, I'm sorry"

"No, don't be please. You were right. I think I want to see it"

"We can always stop playing it when you think you won't be able to handle it anymore, is that okay?"

Peter nods, and smiles. We stand up, and when we do, I pick him up and press him against the back of the door. Connecting my lips with his again, smiling into the kiss when he wraps his legs around my waist. We stay like that until my phone rings.

"That's MJ, I told her to call when we needed to go to Tony's room. Ready?"

"Almost, do you happen to have another pair of those earbuds with you? I smuggled them away when we were leaving the bus" Peter says, slightly ashamed.

"Sure, here babe" I answer, knowing that already. I noticed he didn't have them even before we entered the building, but I didn't say anything. I was going to give him a pair anyway before the recording started, so I had them ready.

"Thank you, I love you" Peter smiles as he puts them in, and I put my arm around his waist, kissing his temple before opening the door.

"I love you too, and don't worry about it. That's what boyfriends are for"
