Amy's pov

It took us almost four days to get to the new place. We made a few extra stops to a few stores to get Riley some toys and clothes. She has been really good this trip, not causing any problems.

"Momma, where is my room?" She asked, as I opened the door.

We are on the top floor of a buzz in apartment. It's small but it is hidden enough that he will not be able to find us.

"Your room is right next to my room." I said as I put the bag of food on the table.

"There are no stairs." She was looking around.

"We just climbed six floors of stairs and you want more?" I laughed.

"Don't houses have stairs?" She looked at me confused.

"Not all of them, this is a single story apartment."

"Oh."

"Let's eat and get you ready for bed."

After our drive thru dinner, she got a shower as I put her bed together. Melissa bought some stuff and got it here for me last week. She has been with me through all of this and she is so happy that I am finally getting away from him. I told her that I will pay her back but she keeps telling me that she will not take my money. She just wants the same thing that I do, for Riley to have a normal life.

"Mommy, the water was really cold." Riley said walking into her room drying her hair.

"Did you turn one knob or two?"

"One."

"You most likely only put the cold water on, silly."

"Oh, that explains it." She giggled.

I helped her dry her hair and then tucked her into bed.

"Tomorrow you have school. I will take you and I will be there to pick you up." I said as I closed her door.

When I walked into my room, I called Melissa.

"Hey girl." She said.

"We are here, Riley is sleeping. Thank you so much for this."

"Don't worry about it, I am keeping an eye and an ear out for him. So far he is still in jail for pounding on your door."

"We are across the country. I didn't think it would take three days to get from LA to Ohio."

"Did you speed?"

"I kept up with the flow of traffic, we did leave earlier than planned from the hotels. I got a few hours of sleep then kept going. We did stop to get some things."

"You are a mother who wants to keep her daughter safe, you are doing the right thing."

"I hope so. I am just so nervous about all of this. If he finds me he will kill me for taking her away from him."

"It is not like he was ever around anyways."

"I know, but you know how he is. Ugh half of me hates myself for drinking that night the other half knows that if I didn't then Riley would never be here."

"This is normal, but all that matters is that you two are safe. I will keep watch out, so far no one has gone to your old place. To be honest, no one has reported you missing."

"That is because no one on my side of the family knows where I am. It is so nice to be home again. After a few weeks I will go visit my parents and see how much they hate me."

"They don't hate you, they will be so happy to see that you are okay. And when they find out about Riley, they will be so happy."

"I know, this is just all."
