Dejun had everything planned, the only thing he didn't want was to chicken out when the moment actually came.
He invited you to spend the New Year at his place along with some of his friends from his hometown so he could connect two of the best parts of his life and end the decade the best way possible.
When you arrived, his eyes scanned your cheerful expression and his heart skipped a beat. Dejun was so enamored by you, and you by him, that it took his friend clapping his hands next to his ear for him to actually introduce you to everybody.
The night was spent well. You ate too many snacks, you shared some drinks, giggled, played some board games and at the end of the night, Dejun recalled what he was about to do as soon as the clock reached the 00h00 mark.
He looked at his wristwatch and saw that there were only thirteen minutes left until the end of the decade. That meant there were only thirteen minutes left for him to compose himself.
Dejun excused himself to the bathroom. He locked the door and brushed his teeth for the longest time, rinsing his mouth multiple times before brushing the minty substance on his teeth. The nervousness was affecting him as his watch told him there were only 8 minutes left.
He popped a mint into his mouth and let it dissolve inside his mouth while trying to catch his breath. Looking at his clock, he wasn't even able to see what time it was when a knock on the door told him he had been there for way too long.
Dejun walked out and made his way to the living room. Everybody already turning to the big window that gave a perfect view to the open sky where soon fireworks would be visible. He sat on the ground next to you and hoped for the best.
At last, everybody announced that 10 seconds were left until the decade came to an end.
