I'm listening to the Evanescence album Fallen, which is awesome because I haven't listened to the actual CD since before I shattered mine years ago. I'm sorry that this is such a long chapter; I didn't see a good stopping point. It just ended in a brain vomit. It's fitting, though, because the title 'ruminating' means to think deeply about something.
Thank you to everyone who continues to read My Mistake!

"My lord, we're home."
Ciel snapped out of his thoughts and looked outside. "Right. Sorry, I was thinking."
"About what?" Sebastian left the carriage and held his hand out for Ciel, who took it and stepped out of the carriage.
"About the conversation with Aunt Francis, and how it went."
"Did something about it bother you?"
"I was worried about what either of you would have done had I allowed the conversation to go on any further. Perhaps you shouldn't have told her you were sick." It wasn't just that, though; it was the emotions flowing through him when Francis doubted him.
He remembered, from reading somewhere, that pregnancy hormones could affect emotions. Was that what had happened? If that was it, he couldn't blame Sebastian. Francis had said something he didn't agree - something that was untrue, anyways, since Sebastian had been working even with the pregnancy news - and Sebastian had replied in turn.
"You ordered me not to lie, my lord." Sebastian reminded him. "And I tried to find the best alternative to tell without telling her the truth, which would surely disgust her more. I am feeling sick due to this, so it's not too far from the truth."
"I know. But now she knows you're not in top condition, and what if we encounter her another time?" Ciel asked as Sebastian opened the door to the manor. "And that same exchange happens again?" And what if worse things happened? What could it escalate to?
"I'm not entirely sure, my lord, but I promise you I will handle the situation better."
Ciel sighed. "Very well. I trust you. Can you prepare dinner? I'm hungry."
"As you wish. What is your request?"
"I'd like something with fish. Maybe salmon."
"Very well, then. I will bring the meal to you when it is ready." Ciel nodded and headed up to his room, intent on finding out when enrollment was for Weston and any other information he could find.

Ten minutes later, there was a knock at his door. It didn't sound like Sebastian's knock - this was louder. Ciel stayed where he was.
"Who is it? I'm busy."
"It's Baldroy."
"Do you have my dinner?"
"I do."
"Is it burnt?"
"No. Sebastian made most of it."
"Very well then. Come in." The door opened, and Baldroy wheeled in the cart. Ciel's dinner was on top - a salmon and dill salad. Delicious.
"Here it is, young master." Baldroy handed Ciel the plate. The earl took it, his stomach growling.
"Was Sebastian sick?" Ciel asked as he began to tuck into the fish.
"Yeah. I think the smell of the fish set him off."
"I'll go check on him later, then. You're free to go." Baldroy left. Ciel listened to his footfalls - they ended right at Sebastian's room.
