CLIFF
We were having our lunch when the door whoozed open to show the appearance of Zuleha.
"Oh! sweets, it's Jabal, he wants to speak with you", Zuleha beamed with smiles as she extended her phone to me.
Tossing a glance at Priss who didn't spare me a glance but rather concentrated on the food with an expressionless face. After collecting the phone, I excused myself and conversed with Jabal for some seconds with my eyes fixed on Priss and Zuleha. Zuleha was the one doing the talking while Priss only cpncentrated on the food without looking up let alone respond.
"Here", I returned the phone to her, she took it, smiled at me before saying,"I didn't know this cheap dlut was here anyway I'll see you around later", glancing at Priss who didn't flinch at all, Zuleha waltzed out without waiting for a response.
Settling down, Priss still wore that blank expression as she continued with the food in silence, awkward and deafening silence that made me uncomfortable. Why isn't she talking?
"Priss, you ain't talking", I broke the ice but she only gave a half shrug, dropped the spoon and clapped.
"Wow, sweets, what a beautiful name!", she scoffed before continuing," You didn't say anything when she called you that, even when she refered to me as a cheap slut all you did was keep quiet, I'll give you a thumbs up", and she did.
I dropped the spoon and brudshed my palms together while thinking of what to say,"I can't put a head or tail in what you are trying to insinuate".
She raised her eyebrows before a chuckle escaped her mouth.
"Now, I'm insinuating abi, you can't understand", she shook her head vigorously," When did you guys become so close that she called you sweets, no wonder she had the temerity to call me a cheap slut , how did she know your office, why did your secretary allow her in? therre's only one response and that shows she's been frequenting your office", she said belligerently.Shit! I ran my hand through my hair that was in need of a cut in frustration.
"Ini...", she cut me short with an annoyed look and a gesture of her palm," Don't call me that, go to your sweets and call her whatever".I took a deep breath before talking," See, there's no reason for you to be mad at me, I see no reason for your insecurity, Zuleha and I have ended it years ago and there's nothing that can make me leave you for her", I assured but Priss rose from her seat, cleared the dishes and carried her basket.
"What are you doing?", I inquired in a surprised tone as I looked up at her.
"What does it look like? when you have a reasonable explanation, you know where to find me", this she pronounced before storming out of the office , she didn't even spare me a glance even with my numerous calls.
Fuck!
I slammed my hand on the table in frustration.PRISS
Her eyes flashed hatred when she saw me entering the elevator, I pressed the control panel and the elevator glided downwards.
"I really can't believe Cliff chose an ugly duckling like you over me", Zuleha started as she glared at me.
This thing really wants a piece of me, she's trying to add salt to the injury.
" For him to have chosen an ugly duckling over a lewd wench, it clearly defines who he loves", I said as calm as I could as I tried containing the vexation building up.
She wagged her index finger, shook her head and turned to me.
"No, it doesn't explain who he loves", she threw her hand in the air," We dated for five good years and you've only known each other for months or so, do you think the five years love wouldn't overpower this nonsense you're doing, you should see how devastated Cliff was when I left him, he hasn't gotten over me and would surely come back to me so let it stick into your thick skull that you're only his plaything, you'll only be with him for a while".
