Kuhu's POV
Like I had prayed, Manan scored brilliantly and India won the tournament. Now his entry to the World Cup team was for sure.
He came with the sweets to the hospital where I was talking to his father. He went to his parents and touched their feet. He cried and made his mother eat the sweet.
"You scared me ma (mom)" he Said with the tears in his eyes.
"And you made me proud beta (son)" she smiled. And they both hugged each other.
He talked to his parents in the room. I smiled at sight. I felt awkward staying inside the room and disturbing their family moment. So I went outside.
I was feeling tired and sleepy. Plus I had no idea if I would be required to stay in the hospital overnight. It was already evening and I was in the hospital since the morning.
I felt like I needed some caffeine and sugar inside my system. So I went inside the hospital canteen and sat on a chair.
"Excuse me!" I called the waiter for the order.
"Please bring a cup of coffee and milky bar chocolate for her." Manan ordered before I could. He had been standing behind me so I had failed to notice him.
I gave him a questioning look. How did he know that I was craving for coffee and a chocolate?
As if understanding my look, he replied automatically.
"Benefits of being silent and a good listener. I observe people who are interesting" he grinned as he took a chair next to me.
"So you find me interesting?" I asked him.
"I find you endearing too " he replied as if stating the obvious.
"I know everything about you." He looked at me challengingly, as if wanting me to ask him personal questions about myself.
"Okay what's my favourite colour?" I asked.
"Easy. Red. Since the day we met." He almost yawned.
"Okay. What's my favourite dish?" I decided to ask him a tough question.
"Dahi Wada (street food) from the restaurant called Shiv Sagar" he replied easily.
"How did you know?" I asked him open mouthed.
"During 2014, you went to Jodhpur city in Rajasthan state where you ate margarita pizza from a restaurant called Gypsy and till now that was your best pizza ever!" He said.
How did he know all that? Wait a minute, did he read my posts on Facebook? I remembered posting about pizza on Facebook, promising the people in comment section that I would post about the pizza which I will find better than that one.
"I have read and followed all your Facebook posts since years. I have read all your poems and blogs too." He admitted proudly.
"And don't ask me how many times I have read letters that you had sent me. And how well I have preserved our postcards!" He smiled at the memory.
"It must be shocking to you why am I speaking so much today. Isn't it?" He grinned. Today I was tongue tied and e was speaking.
I just nodded my head. I was floored. He literally did research on me before we started dating.
"I have liked you since the day we met in the school. You were a small but very important part of my childhood. And maybe teenage years. I always wanted to meet you again, see you again and talk to you again. Thank God someone invented something called "Facebook." He stopped speaking and put his hand on mine. And I literally shivered. He had that effect on me.
"Thank you for taking care of my parents. Since you were there with my mum, it was easy to focus on my game and give a good performance." He squeezed my hand lightly.
"You are welcome" was all I could say.
As soon as I drank my coffee, he decided that he would drop me to my place. I insisted in staying in hospital but he was adamant. Now the World Cup was after a few months so he was free to take care of his mum. I called my parents and told them everything except that fact that I was dating Manan. They thought that I was helping him as a good friend.
As soon as we reached to my place, he looked at me. I was sitting in the passenger seat. And had fallen asleep during the drive.
"Kuhu?" He asked.
"Hmm?"
"Your parents know?" He asked me.
"Know what?" I was feeling too sleepy to understand what he meant.
"Never mind they will know. By the way we have reached to your place" I saw him grinning while I mentally pushed myself to get my ass out of the car. I almost sleep walked into my house (the door was luckily opened) and straightway went to my room. I opened the door and fell into sleep.
When I woke up in the morning, I was unable to remember my conversation with Manan last night in his car. All I remembered was his grinning face.
