After a quick lunch of leppa berries, the friends started to head over to the meadow. As they were walking, it started to rain. Hard.

"Should we go home?" Cassie asked, "It's cold, and I don't want to mess up my fur." Her answer came in the form of a bright flash of light, quickly followed by a giant boom.

"We should." said Marco, stating the obvious. With that, everyone headed home to shelter.

As Tobias entered his cave he turned around to watch the storm. Although he hates water with a passion, he loves the rain. He took a deep breath, taking in the earthy smell of rain. If only I was a vaporeon, he thought, then water wouldn't bother me. He shook his head. All the evolutions were so enticing! I've got a few years, I can decide then.

He was starting to turn and go inside when a bolt of lightning illuminated the treeline. There he saw a sliver of white, peeking through the trees, but it quickly vanished to nothing but leaves. Thinking it was his eyes playing tricks, he retired to his corner of the cave. It must be my imagination, I'm the only shiny eevee for miles.

"Earth to Tobias."

He gasped. "Dad, you're back!" He ran over to the vaporeon. "I missed you so much!"

"Me too buddy! How are you?"

"Great! This morning I got up early and Jake, Rachel, Cassie, and I were gonna prank Marco on his way back, but he outsmarted our trap. Then he got his dad with Joe mama and we went and ate lunch at his mom's house and then we were going to play but it started raining and we had to go home. How was work?"

Connor's face took on a worried expression. "Well, we've been having humans get lost lately, and it takes some effort to show them the right way."

"Silly humans, they can't even walk straight, let alone talk to us!" Eva said. Her mouth was a smile, but her eyes showed concern. Tobias laughed, oblivious to the air of worry. The family spent the rest of the afternoon sitting at the mouth of the cave, watching the rain.

Connor remembered something. "Hey Tobias, we have some visitors from the other side of the mountains."

"Really? I hope they're not like the last ones." Tobias thought back to when an umbreon with a screw loose and an espeon with a cracked gem came through and ate all of the peoples food.

"Oh, gosh no! These folks are very kind. And guess what."

"What?"

"There's an eevee," Tobias turned, eyes bright with excitement, "about your age, and she's shiny."

Tobias's jaw dropped. His parents chuckle at their son's reaction. "No way! I was starting to think I was the only shiny!" His mind flashed back to the sliver of white. So it was another shiny.

"Alright my prince, it's time for you to get some sleep," his mom said.

"Okay. Goodnight mom, goodnight dad." With that he went to his corner and got in his bed of leaves, though he could hardly sleep. The shiny eevee girl was on his mind. I wonder if we'll be friends, he thought as he lay there. Eventually his tiredness overcame his overactive mind, and he fell asleep.
