It was till dark when Tobias woke up. He knew it was morning because he didn't feel tired at all. After tidying his bed of leaves, he crept past his mother, carefully placing each step soundlessly. On his way out, he grabbed a couple of oran berries from the pile. Not his favorite raw, but they were on top and made the least noise. He has permission to leave early, but he would get a good chastising if he were to disrupt his mother's sleep. Once past the cave entrance, the exited eevee broke into a run.

Tobias approached the meeting spot. It was a particularly old tree with huge leaves and moss growing on the bark. There was Jake, laughing with two female eevees.
"Hey girls, come to watch the show?" Asked Tobias.
"Wouldn't miss it for the world." Rachel was Marco's girlfriend.
"Me neither." Cassie said, "Jake, can you tell us the plan now? The suspense is killing me!"
Jake chuckled. "Morning Prince. Now that you're here, I can divulge my ultimate plan. Come on, follow me." He turned and walked further into the woods. After a minute, they arrived at a tree that leaned over in an arch above the main path. "Here we are." He started walking/climbing up the mossy bark. Once at the top, he grabbed a thick strand of ivy with his mouth. "Ennk, oh ut ee oo ow-"
"You shouldn't talk with your mouth full, silly!" Cassie called, causing Rachel to snort. Jake dropped the ivy.
"I said okay, what we do with this is attach some berries to it and let it hang over the path. When Marco tries to eat them we yank them away."
"How do you know he'll fall for it?" Cassie asked.
"Have you seen him around food? He's going to fall for it." Rachel said.
"He eats like a pig!" Tobias added. He pushed up his nose making it wrinkled like a pig's. "Oink! Oink!"
They all laughed at Tobias's act, and set up the trap. Cassie joined Jake on the tree to help pull the ivy. Now it was time to wait.

As Jake, Rachel, Cassie, and Tobias waited, the sun started to rise. The last of the stars dissolved into the now navy blue sky and the first hint of color faded in from the east, starting with a deep purple, going through fuchsia, red, yellow and finally the nearly white sun. First Jake and Cassie, then Rachel and Tobias saw the sliver of light slowly expand, getting brighter and filling the sky with baby blue.
"Wow, its so beautiful." Cassie said in awe.
Just like you, Jake thought. He turned and admired her face, the colors of the sky reflected on her brown eyes.
