THE bright glow of red and blue lights washes over me in the form of strong flashes. i sit at the top of the steps of my home with my knees against my chest and my eyes glued onto the ground. my fingers tightly grip the cotton blanket wrapped around me.

"ma'am, for the last time, i need for you to tell me everything that happened."

all i can see is a pair of black, worn-out shoes in front of me. the voice belonging to the person wearing them is strong and demanding, as if he were one straw away from losing his temper. his feet shuffle around while he awaits an answer.

but it doesn't come. i am silenced by fear.

"answer me!" the voice barks.

i slightly jolt in my seated position, tears building up in my eyes. my bottom lip quivers as i remain silent. this kind of attitude is the last thing i need right now.

suddenly, the man crouches down in front of me. his face is now visible in my line of sight. i tremble at the sight in front of me.

his facial features are sharp and his wavy raven-colored locks are visible under his cap. the man's eyes stare intensely into mine, making me feel small under his gaze. i avoid them at all costs. the flashes of red and blue lights reflect off of his golden badge. officer jeon jungkook. i hold back an eye roll at the sight of it.

police officers have never really stood well with me. especially this one.

"if you want to know what happened to him, i need for you to speak," he says once again, his voice now softer but still insistent.

my heart drops once i hear his words. a tear streams down my cheek. the memories start coming in one by one, sending me down a spiral of sadness full of shock and disbelief. a quiet sob escapes my lips. the policeman remains unbothered by my emotional display.

i'm just another one of his cases, anyway.

"come on, i don't have all day," he huffs, adjusting his crouched position.

i wipe away the runaway tear, having had enough of the police officer's attitude.

i need to know... i just need to...

lifting my gaze up from the pavement, i look directly into his eyes. the corners of his lips curl up into the form of a smirk once i'm staring into his brown eyes. it sends a terrifying chill down my spine. nevertheless, i finally speak.

"fine. i'll talk."
