I place my key inside the door's keyhole and turn it sideways, pushing the door inwards once it clicks opens. my eyes skim over of the closed sign resting against the door. a satisfied sigh escapes my lips once i walk inside, the fresh aroma of flowers reaching my nose.

after a long day of work at the architectural firm, coming home to him is what i need most.

"jin, sweetie, i'm home!" i cheerfully greet, staring happily at the empty flower shop.

the glow of the setting sun infiltrates through the windows with the curtains drawn over them. that's strange... jin never draws the blinds until the sun has completely set; the flowers need as much natural sunlight as they can possibly get.

"jin?" i ask out into the open, my eyes scanning the inside of the flower shop.

no response.

my heartbeat grows faster and faster as i begin to walk along the aisles covered in flowers. a wide array of roses, daisies, peonies, carnations, and daffodils turn into a colorful blur in my peripheral vision. thousands of different scenarios begin to flood my mind.

"jin?! are you here?!" i exclaim worriedly, my voice cracking at the end of the question.

still no response.

the store is large, so i decide to stop roaming around and call him instead. my fingers tremble as i look up jin in my recent calls. placing my phone up to my ear while it rings, i nervously tap my foot against the ground.

a phone inside the store suddenly starts ringing. my head snaps in the direction of the sound. it's coming from the supply closet. i quicken my pace as i walk towards it, my breathing starting to become uneasy.

"come on. pick up the phone, jin," i manage to breath out.

i reach the supply closet door, the phone still ringing inside it. i decide to hang up. the door is slightly ajar, revealing a dark interior. i take a deep breath before pushing it inwards.

"jin, are you in here?"

silence.

the room is pitch black. a couple of steps in and i trip over something, slightly losing my balance. i wave my arms around to regain it. my hand brushes against the wall in search of the light switch. once i finally find it, i flick it upwards. a warm yellow light fills up the room, making everything as clear as day.

and my god do i wish it hadn't.

a deafening scream escapes my lips at the horrendous scene before me. tears begin welling up in my eyes. my knees drop to the ground as i lose all of my strength. i crouch over jin, my chest heaving harshly as i bawl with no shame.

my hands find their way to his chest. it's not rising. i wince slightly as my hands become tinted red. my hands move towards his wrist. no pulse. lastly, towards his neck. no pulse either.

i'm too late.

i close my eyes and shake my head in defeat, more tears streaming down my face. a couple of them drop onto his motionless body, dampening up his already damp clothing.

i manage to open up my eyes slowly. they meet his beautiful face, a fierce expression written across it. i place my hand on his cheek, caressing it softly. the coldness of his bare skin sends shivers down my spine. my lips quiver as i observe him.

"i will always love you, jin," i smile lovingly through my tears. i rest my head against his chest, trying to enjoy the last moments with the love of my life.

and as the world begins to crumble all around me, the sound of police sirens become more audible.
