Zatanna left Wanda after a few more minutes, leaving her to rest after her emotional break down.

As she was getting comfortable, Wanda felt the familiar tug of Psimon and Queen Bee. She sighed, glad she was alone now as she let them enter her mind.

"Is it done?" Queen Bee asked, not even having to elaborate.

Wanda nodded, eyeing her fists in her lap. "It is done. Robin is dead."

"Give us proof." Psimon asked, working his way through Wanda's mind.

He would've found out the truth if Wanda wasn't prepared for this. She quietly, subtly, altered their minds so they would see what she wanted them too, which was the death of Jason Todd.

Satisfied that she had completed her mission, the two nodded. "We are proud of you, Wanda. And for this, you shall get a reward."

Wanda felt her mind fill with a vision of Pietro, still in that cell, but pacing this time, his arms wrapped around his waist. Wanda felt her heart flutter at the thought of Pietro still being alive and relatively unharmed.

Then the vision was gone from her head and she let out a little whimper. Queen Bee sat at her side, stroking her hair. "We will be back with your next assignment. Remember, you are one step closer to Pietro with each mission you complete."

Wanda nodded wordlessly as the two Light members left her mind, breathing a sigh of relief. She got the best of them, convincing them Jason was dead without actually killing him.

Her relief was short lived, replaced with a spike of panic when she heard the gasp from the doorway. Her head whipped up to see M'gann standing in the doorway, a look of utter betrayal on her face.

"I didn't want to believe my suspicions-"

"M'gann, I can explain-"

"-but it looks like you really are a double agent." M'gann spat out, eyes narrowing into a glare she directed at Wanda.

"M'gann please! I can explain." M'gann hesitated in the doorway, prompting Wanda to speak. "They have Pietro, threatening to kill him if I don't do as they demand. They told me I had to lead Jason to his death in order to break the Batman and the team apart with his demise. Obviously, I prevented that, but I convinced them that he was dead, to spare another attempt on his life and to keep Pietro alive."

M'gann scoffed. "You still led him to his almost death, only stepping in when we found Jason's note. Were you even going to intervene or were you going to let him die for your brother?" Wanda lowered her eyes, guilt swallowing her whole. M'gann clucked her tongue in disapproval. "Thought so. Wanda, I obviously have to tell the team-"

"But M'gann, they will kill Pietro!"

"And you'll kill us all." M'gann shot back, turning on her heels and about to leave when the door slammed shut and locked itself. She whirled around to glare at Wanda, being met with Wanda's scarlet eyes.

"I'm sorry, M'gann, I really am." Wanda barely registered the look of shock as she entered M'gann's mind, fighting her psychically as she worked on erasing her memories of this encounter and discovery.

Ultimately, she won, exiting M'gann's mind. The Martian stood there with a confused look on her face. "W-what am I doing in here? I was just in the lounge..."

Wanda smiled softly. "You were checking up on me after my melt down, but I'm okay now. No need to worry."

M'gann nodded, accepting this as the truth before she left, for real this time.

Wanda groaned, tossing herself back on her bed. She couldn't believe she had done that, but she had to. She had to.

For Pietro.

One week later...

Wanda stumbled out of her room, making her way sleepily to the lounge. She started to brew herself a cup of coffee as the other members that lived at the mountain trickled in.

She sat on the couch, sipping her beverage as the others went about making their own breakfasts. Wanda eyed M'gann carefully as the Martian hummed, cooking some pancakes for everyone.

She had to make sure that her memory wipe stuck, so she would covertly enter M'gann's mind daily to check for any resurfacing of that afternoon. Luckily for her, M'gann's mind was scrubbed clean of the encounter.

She also hadn't heard from the Light since she was in the med bay, making her a little uneasy.

That uneasiness left her body when she felt two familiar arms slink their way across her shoulders, a light kiss being placed on her temple as she smiled.

"Hey, Z." She muttered, looking up at the magician.

Zatanna grinned down at her, giving her a quick peck. The couple looked up when they heard a strangled noise of surprise.

The culprit, Wally, was looking at the two girls with a shocked expression. "When did this happen?"

"A week ago." They answered at the same time, smiling at each other as a shudder went down Wally's spine.

"That was freaky, don't do that again."

"Okay." They did it again, subtly highfiving each other when Wally cried out in distress.

He mumbled under his breath, running off to find Dick, probably.

Zatanna took a seat next to Wanda on the couch, draping her legs across her lap. Wanda pat her knee, relaxing into Zatanna's touch when the magician ran her fingers through her hair. She much preferred Zatanna's touch than Queen Bee's.

Queen Bee.

Wanda felt her heart stutter when she remembered that this wouldn't last, couldn't last, due to the small problem of her working for the Light. She ached inside when she looked over at Zatanna, wanting to relish every moment of this before it inevitably came to an end.

She knew that either the Light would out her sooner or later, or that the team would catch on to her betrayal. Wanda already sensed the distrust they harbored for her ever since the whole incident with Jason's mother, making her even more on edge. And she couldn't guarantee that M'gann wouldn't regain her memories of her discovery.

Wanda gulped, plastering on a fake smile when Zatanna gave her a curious look. She knew this was the calm before the storm.

And boy, was she right.
