The Emperor's Smile

There is a myth that goes by saying

That the Emperor's smile takes ones woes away

But of course there's no proof with this telling

But desperation made ones heart sway

His smile has said to do some wonders

To anyone who had seen and come

Everyone, even the sinful and dumb

He greets them with a smile that never falters

The Emperor smiles and serves a drink

Warm alcohol is filled to the brink

From the cup comes an aroma so pleasing

Taking it in, such a euphoric feeling

Dozens of questions kept on revolving

To whether or not he smiles at those who kept sinning

The Emperor answers them with a smile and says

"How could I not help a man who've gone astray?"

The Emperor's smile takes one woes away

He smile to everyone even the ones astray

So would he smile upon a man who did nothing wrong

But only loved another, another who is now gone?

Would he smile upon a broken man?

Who only wished to reverse time sand?

To see the smile of the one he holds dear

And gaze upon their beautiful eyes so clear

Would he smile upon a man who waited?

For the return of a wandering friend

Waiting without acceptance, without assurance

To whether or not his waiting will end

Would he smile upon a man who mourns?

Mourns for the love he lost

And wished nothing else but

To have a glance at them once more

The Emperor's smile had said to take ones woes away

But of course this is but an empty dream

Even so I rather believe and keep on dreaming

Than to wake up alone, regretting, and left with nothing.
