Roya sat in the old courtroom waiting for her trial to begin. Normal prisoners got chained to a rowan chair, and had a painful trial with burning questions, and burning skin, because of the rowan. However, because Roya was fey royalty, she got shut in a glass room.
A loud bang disrupted Roya's thoughts. Nenia had struck her staff against the floor to signal the beginning of the trial. Roya sat up straight, and took a deep breath. In a few hours, she would be sitting her room, peacefully braiding her hair. There was nothing to worry about.
"Let the trial of Princess Roya Thorn begin," proclaimed Nenia. "Roya Thorn, how do you plead?"
"Innocent," said Roya.
"You will not speak until you are spoken to. If you do, you will be immediately proven guilty, and sent to jail. Is this understood?"
"Yes"
"Then let us began. Roya Moonthorn, where were you at the time of the attack?"
"I was sitting beside her," said Roya, carefully. She knew by watching her father that it was best to keep the answers as short as possible. Anything she said would be used against her.
A man who was standing next to Nenia stood up. He had white hair, and was dressed all in leather. "What had happened before the attack?"
"I had just gotten food, and sat down. Mother had given me a necklace with our family crest on it. Then I heard a hissing noise, and the lights went out."
"Thank you Roya. We have heard all we need to know." Nenia and the man walked out. Roya waited for a good hour. Just as she was beginning to get nervous, the large doors banged open, and Nenia walked briskly through. She was very stiff. Roya's heart beat faster.
Nenia looked very grim. "Roya Moonthorn, you are hereby proven-,"
Roya stood up to leave. She didn't need to be told that she was innocent.
"-guilty."
Roya did a double-take. "I-i'm sorry?"
"You are proven guilty. You have been charged with murder to the highest degree."
Roya stood there unable to move. She felt dizzy.
"You have been sentenced to death," said Nenia.
Suddenly, everything went black.
