Hey guys, sorry I haven't updated in a while, I was taking a break for the holidays :)
"I beg your pardon!?" said Roya. The world was dying? How could she have not known about this!?
"Yeah. Patches of black stuff all over the world. They say it started in Miraelin, and spread," explained Calypso.
"I must return to my kingdom," said Roya, rising to her feet. "I must warn them."
"Do what you want but remember; the river is dangerous, and the forests even more so. If you get killed, I don't want Lyrian soldiers knocking on my door," said Calypso.
"Don't worry. I'll be alright." And Roya stepped out the door. She heard a noise from behind her.
"Wait!" called Calypso. She jogged up to Roya who had gotten about half-way down the path. "Let me at least walk to you to the river."
"Alright," Roya said.
And so they began walking. Roya felt the cool, autumn breeze against her and the crunch of leaves beneath her leather boots. It was a strange wind, Roya thought. A bit strong for this time of year. Calypso must have been thinking the same thing, and voiced Roya's thoughts.
"The wind's a bit strong today isn't it?"
"Yes," Roya agreed. Just as she said that, the wind grew and grew until a huge gust came sweeping through and knocked them to the ground. Struggling to get back up, Calypso yelled,
"TORNADO!"
"PARDON!?" Roya yelled back, above the howling wind. Thirty seconds ago, it was slightly overcast, with hints of blue sky. If a tornado was coming, they would have been aware. Yet, looming above her was a huge tornado. Before she could have time to think, it scooped them up, and suddenly they were spinning.
Roya was aware of screams. In a few moments, she became aware that they were hers. Her hair was whipping around her face, and she frantically looked around, screaming for Calypso. Then the unexplainable happened. The tornado began talking.
"Roya Moonthorn and Calypso Rivera. You have been chosen. You will rid the world of Disease, and restore the lands to their former glory. If you refuse, you will be killed on the spot. You have twenty-four hours to preform the acceptance ritual. Along this journey you will meet a peasant, an enemy who may not be, and a helper who you may have to teach. In order to stop the Disease you will need to acquire five things. A rare gem, a horse tooth, a fox hair, a dewdrop from fire and a blazing star. We wish you the best of luck. When you have completed these tasks, go to the Temple of the Moon, and preform the ceremony."
Suddenly, Roya felt light, until gravity hit her like a hammer and she plummeted to the ground. She fell, screaming at the top of her lungs. "I'm going to die," she thought as she watched the ground get closer and closer. She closed her eyes, and braced herself.
Then she stopped. Roya slowly opened her eyes. What she saw, shocked her. She was in a giant bubble, hovering slightly above the ground. She looked through it, and saw Calypso, with silvery-blue vapors emerging from her hands, her blue gems glowing bright. Roya gasped, and immediately started choking. She was underwater after all.
Calypso let the bubble go, and Roya dropped a few feet to the ground. She coughed, sputtering water everywhere. The bubble had been so clear, and Roya had forgotten to breathe. She looked up at Calypso.
"What was that!?"
Calypso looked down at her, trying not to laugh. Roya became instantly self-aware, and noticed that her hair was everywhere, her clothes dripping wet, and her makeup smeared. Roya gave her a look. Calypso caught the hint and said,
"It was a healing potion gone wrong. It turned out blue, instead of pink, and I thought I had finally been able to create an underwater breathing potion. Not that I really need one, but you know, nice to be able to do. Anyway, it was very dark blue, not the usual color for one, but I drank it anyway. It gave me this power. The power to control water."
Roya was bewildered. She had seen magic before, but not accidental magic.
"Come on," Calypso said. "Let's get you cleaned up"
I hope you guys enjoyed the story! I'll be updating Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays from now on. Don't forgot to vote!
