"Answer the question!" I yell as Mike's sitting on my bed, barely paying attention.
"Whoa, take it easy." He replied.
"You're my fake boyfriend, remember? We need a backstory of our relationship in case anyone asks."
He nods. "Okay, what was the question again?"
"Where did we go on our first date?" I ask and cross my arms.
"Um.." He looks down in thought.
I wait a few moments for him to answer. He doesn't.
"The movies, Mike! It's not that hard to remember. It was romantic!"
"Do people even go out to the movies anymore?" He looks around.
I shake my head. "Yes, they do."
"Kinda lame, don't you think? I feel like a nice fancy dinner-"
"Lame? It's not lame! It's a believable story, Mike." I explain.
He narrowed his eyes at me. "No, we need an epic love story! One that will make everyone jealous, not just my dickhead of a brother." He smiles.
"We've only been 'dating' for a week. We don't have an epic love story!" I stress.
"Have you never heard of love at first sight?" He smirks.
"Mike. We've known each other for 3 years."
He sighs. "Fine, love at second sight."
I give him a look and a soft giggle.
"Look, I don't want this whole thing to blow up in my face because of one missed detail. I just want Vic back." My face softens as I sit next to Mike on the bed and lay my head on his shoulder.
"I still don't get that.." He speaks up as he runs his hand through my hair and down my back. "Why do you want back the guy that treated you like shit?"
"He didn't treat me like shit." I defended him.
He scoffed. "He cheated on you, Mel!"
"It was a mistake. Besides, I've spent too much time and effort to just throw it all away." I explained.
"How romantic." Mike rolled his eyes.
I wasn't sure why he was being like that. Maybe it was just a protective thing. Vic did cheat on me, but it was a mistake. I know it. Vic would never do that to me and Xavier on purpose.
I rolled my eyes. "Clearly, you don't understand the value of being in a committed relationship."
"Real relationships don't work out for me ever. That's why I'm on the app. I can enjoy all the dates without any disappointment."
I sarcastically laugh then proceed to mock him. "How romantic."
He looks me in the eyes and smirks as he gets up, grabbing his jacket.
"I gotta go. Vic called a mandatory band meeting."
I picked up the stack of index cards. "We have so much more to study! You don't even know my favorite color or my favorite hobby or my favori-"
"Your favorite color is maroon. Your favorite hobby is singing, sketching and sometimes playing the piano when no ones homes and your favorite food is blueberries pancakes with a sprinkle of cinnamon on top." He cuts me off, smirking. "How about you drop the plan and just see what happens? Watch where the night takes us. Maybe you'll change your mind about your breakup being so bad." He leans in the door way.
